Northern Virginia Junior Open #3

On Saturday October 27 – Sunday October 28, 2018 The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Northern Virginia Junior Open #3 in Clifton, VA. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole, two-day format and the field was made from five divisions that included the Tiger Woods Division Boys 16-18, Will Smith Division Boys 14-15, Ernie Els Division Boys 11-13, Justin Rose Division Girls U13, and the Justin Timberlake Division Girls 14-18.

Tiger Woods Boys 16-18

Northern Virginia Junior Open #3

Shawn Colella captured the first-place finish at the Northern Virginia Junior Open in the Tiger Woods Boys 16-18 division with a 2-day total of 141 (72-69). With solid play both days, Colella was able to hold off Nick Rakes who finished with 144. Carrter Morris rounded out the division with the 3rd place finish shooting a 2-day total of 162.

Will Smith Boys 14-15

Northern Virginia Junior Open #3

In the Will Smith Boys 14-15 division, Benny Haggin took home first place this weekend by shooting a 2-day total of 151. Solid play in the second round allowed Haggin to take victory over Aryan Vuradi who finished with a total score of 171. Rounding out the division Ian Johnson for third place tie with a total of 181.

Ernie Els 11-13

Northern Virginia Junior Open #3

Emil Riegger did not disappoint in the Ernie Els boys 11-13 division as he carded rounds of 74-75 to win in his division over Benjamin Newfield who carded rounds of 78-73 to claim 2nd place. Miller Carr shot a 2-day total of 155 to finish in 3rd place.

Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18

Northern Virginia Junior Open #3

Lauren Artis ended up with the first-place finish in the Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18 Division by carding a total of 146 (83-81). With consistent rounds, Artis was able to hold off Madeline Catalano and claiming 2nd place. Rounding out the division was Elena Rezac who shot a 2-day total of 189 to claim a 3rd place finish.

In the Justin Rose Girls U13 division, Audrey Yim took home a first place victory with a two day total of 173. In second place was Keya Naik with a two day total of 189 (99-90).

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
