On Saturday September 15 – Sunday September 16, 2018 The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Northern Virginia Junior Open #2 at Blue Ridge Shadows GC in Front Royal, VA. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole, two-day format and the field was made from Five divisions that included the Tiger Woods Division Boys 16-18, Will Smith Division Boys 14-15, Ernie Els Division Boys 11-13, Bryson Dechambeau Division U10, and the Justin Rose Division Girls U13.

Tiger Woods Boys 16-18

Northern Virginia Junior Open #2

Karsen Rush captured the first-place finish in the Tiger Woods Boys 16-18 division with a 2-day total of 138 (69-69). With solid play both days, Rush was able to hold off Nick Woo who carded a 2-day total of 152. Rounding out the top 3 is Odin Anderson with a total of 154.

Will Smith Boys 14-15

Northern Virginia Junior Open #2

In the Will Smith Boys 14-15 division Gavin Giroux took home first place this weekend in shooting a 2-day total of 155. Solid play throughout allowed Giroux to take victory over Michael Snyder who finished second with a 2 day total of 160. Rounding out the division was Ian Quindoza who finished 6 shots behind Snyder to claim a 3rd place finish.

Ernie Els 11-13

Benjamin Newfield did not disappoint in the Ernie Els boys 11-13 division as he carded rounds of 77-78 to win in his division over Emil Riegger who carded rounds of 79-78 to claim 2nd place. Behind Riegger was Dustin Stocksdale who shot a 2-day total of 158 (76-82) to take a solo 3rd place finish.

Audrey Yim captured the first-place finish in the Justin Rose Girls U13 division with a 2-day total of 171 (88-83). With solid play both days, Yim was able to hold off Keya Naik who carded a 2-day total of 185. Rounding out the top 3 is Sonja Meyer with a total of 203.

Carson Higginbotham did not disappoint in the Bryson Dechambeau boys U10 division as he carded rounds of 75-76 to win in his division in a close finish over Jason Park who carded rounds of 75-77 to claim 2nd place. Rounding out the top 3 is Liam Foster who carded rounds of 84-88 for a total of 172.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
