Northern California Junior Challenge

On Saturday, November 18, 2017 and Sunday, November 19, 2017, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour hosted a tournament in Sacramento, California at Haggin Oaks Golf Complex. The rounds were played on the Alister Mackenzie course. The players showed strong performances on this course as the tournament progressed over the weekend. This championship course is known throughout the golf industry.

Tiger Woods Boys 16-18

Northern California Junior Challenge

Nicholas Klock of Moraga, CA is the boys’ 16-18 champion. Klock won his division with amazing scores of 72 on Saturday and a 67 on Sunday for a two-day total of 139. Wallace Lin of Los Gatos, CA finished in 2nd with a two-day total of 142 (72-70). 3rd place was a tie between Presley Mackelburg of Reno, NV (143) (73-70) and Rajvir Bedi of San Jose, CA (143) (70-73). All the players had a great time competing against each other on this beautiful course.

Will Smith Boys 14-15

Northern California Junior Challenge

Jacob Van Roekel of El Dorado Hills, CA is the champion of the boys 14-15 division. Jacob showed improvements throughout the tournament with a first round score of 73 and a score of 74 on day two for a two-day total of 147. Jack Deaner of Carmichael, CA came in 2nd after finishing with a two-day total of 148 (73-75). 3rd place was a tie between Collin Yee of Davis, CA (151) (78-73) and Andrew Bagasbas of Danville, CA (151) (74-77). The players in this division pushed each other as each hole progressed.

Ernie Els 11-13

Northern California Junior Challenge

Zachery Pollo of Rocklin, CA is the boys’ 11-13 champion. After posting a 68 on Saturday, Zachery followed it up with a 75 on Sunday for a two-day total of 143. Christopher Gassner of Lincoln, CA finished 2nd with a two-day total of 147 (73-74). 3rd place was taken by Arjun Aujla of Greenbrae, CA with a two-day total of 175 (88-87). Everyone in this age division pushed each other from tee to green. This made the field that much more interesting as you followed on each hole.

Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18

Northern California Junior Challenge

Patricia Sweeney of Folsom, CA is the girls’ 14-18 champion. Sweeney had a 70 on Saturday and followed it up with a score of 74 on Sunday for a two-day total of 144. 2nd place was a tie between Jacqueline Lucena of Chico, CA (146) (76-70) and Katelyn Harris of Antelope, CA (146) (78-68). Round two is was the deciding factor for this age division. Multiple players were in position to place before the start of the second round.

Justin Rose Girls U13

Northern California Junior Challenge

Amelia Greenlee is the girls’ 13 and under champion. Greenlee of Rosevillle, CA came out on top after scoring a two-day total of 152 (77-75). 2nd place was taken by Ellie Bushnell of Granite Bay, CA. Bushnell posted a two-day total of 153 (80-73). 3rd place was taken by Haley Wong of El Dorado Hills, CA (164) (83-81).  The fight for first came down to Hole 18 on the final day of the tournament.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
