On Monday, June 11 – Tuesday, June 12, 2018, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour hosted the Northeast Florida Junior Open in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. The two-day, 36-hole tournament that took place at Marsh Landing Country Club consisted of golfers from five divisions, including the Tiger Woods Boys 16-18 Division, Will Smith Boys 14-15 Division, Ernie Els Boys 11-13 Division, Boys U10 Division, and the Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18 Division.
Boys 16-18

Tamerlan Bashikov of Bradenton, Florida captured the victory in the Tiger Woods Boys 16-18 Division after a two-day total of 147 (+3). He made 5 birdies and had the lowest scoring average in his field of 73.5. Cole Miller of Tallahassee, Florida, finished even on Tuesday and made 6 birdies (the most in playing field) to help him take second-place in the tournament for a total of +7. Third-place finisher was Noah Cone, of Bradenton, Florida, who finished with a total of 157 strokes (+13).
Boys 14-15

In the Will Smith Boys 14-15 Division, Kyo Morishita of Hyougo, Japan was the first-place champion after finishing +3 with 147 strokes. He led the playing field with the lowest scoring average (73.5), most birdies (5), and tied for the longest birdie or better streak (2). Shoichiro Sakamoto of Bradenton, Florida finished second after tying Morishita for the longest birdie or better streak (2) to contribute to a two-day total of +10. Jacksonville, Florida’s Adam Vermut was the third-place finisher with a total of +11 through thirty-six holes.
Boys 11-13

Sho Suzuki of Bradenton, Florida was victorious in the Ernie Els Boys 11-13 Division after finishing +19 with 163 strokes. He led his playing field with the lowest scoring average (81.5) and the most birdies (1). Second-place finisher was Nicholas Farraye of St. Augustine, Florida who finished +24 (168). Carlos Heinsen of Santo Domingo, Florida finished third at +30 after the thirty-six holes.
Girls 14-18

Deborah Chang of Seoul, South Korea, captured the title in the Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18 Division finishing at +1. She led her playing field with the lowest scoring average (72.5) and the most birdies (5). Handa (Ying Xian) Liu of Bradenton, Florida placed second with a two-day total of +13. Third-place finisher was Minny Byun of Bradenton, Florida who shot 163 through thirty-six holes for a +19 finish.
Girls U13
Boys 10 Under

The Boys U10 Division’s first-place finisher was Miles Russell of Jacksonville Beach, Florida who finished +12. He led his playing field with the lowest scoring average (78) and the lowest Par 3 average (3.4). Jeremiah Smith of Viera, Florida finished second with a two-day total of 190 for a +46 finish. Both Russell and Smith made 2 birdies.

In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.
The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
