On Saturday May 12 – Sunday May 13, 2018 The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the North Florida Junior Open at The Golf Club at Fleming Island in Orange Park, Florida. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole, two-day format and the field was made from five divisions that included the Tiger Woods Division Boys 16-18, Will Smith Division Boys 14-15, Ernie Els Division Boys 11-13, Boys Under 10 Division, Justin Timberlake Division Girls 14-18 and the Justin Rose Girls U13 Division.

Tiger Woods Boys 16-18

North Florida Junior Open

Noah Zediker from Panama City, Florida cruised to an easy victory this past weekend after shooting scores of 73-75 for a two day total of 148. Right behind him in second place was Cameron Meek from West Palm Beach, Florida. Meek shot 81-79 for a two day total of 160. Lastly we have Tysson Sangermano from Lincoln, Rhode Island who was in second place after round one, but dropped to third after a final round 88. Sangermano's first round of 76 was good enough to secure his third place finish.

Will Smith Boys 14-15

North Florida Junior Open

In the Will Smith Division, William Masuhr from Bradenton, Florida was able to solidify his victory by 5 shots. Masuhr's 75-78 was consistent enough to take home the victory and secure his first win of the season. In second place, Michael Bell from Bradenton, Florida improved by 6 shots from his first round 82 making a charge for the second place finish. Coming in third place was Daiki Taniguchi. Taniguchi shot rounds of 85-75 for a total of 160. He improved his score by 10 shots which was the best of the weekend.

Ernie Els 11-13

North Florida Junior Open

Erik Plenge of Lima, Peru finished in first place in the Ernie Els Division Boys 11-13. Plenge finished with a two-day total score of 145 (77-68). Asher Joseph of Melbourne, Florida came in second place with a two-day total score of 149 (75-74). Frank Bellino of Putnam Valley, New York finished in third place with a two-day total score of 155 (77-78).

Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18

North Florida Junior Open

Celeste Valinho of Jacksonville, Florida finished in first place after shooting 72-73 for a two day total of 145. Scarlet Weidig came in second place with a two-day total score of 154 (76-78). Monica Abiwardani (83-79) and Mizuho Amesaka (81-81) both tied for third place honors with a two day total of 162.

Justin Rose Girls U13

North Florida Junior Open

In the Girls Under 13 Justin Rose Division, Staci Pla of West Palm Beach, Florida finished in first place with a two-day total score of 170 (81-89). Yuting Dai came in second place with a two-day total score of 176 (86-90). Yuhan Zheng of  finished in third place with a two-day total score of 155 (77-78).

Boys 10 Under

North Florida Junior Open

Jeremiah Smith took home the victory in the Boys U10 division shooting rounds of 92-89 for a two day total of 181. This is his first win of the season and has not finished out of the top 5 yet. His recent move to Florida may scare others in his division since he was in the top 10 points earners in 2017.

In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
