New York Summer Junior Open #2

On Saturday August 18 – Sunday August 19, 2018 The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the New York Summer Junior Open #2 at Beekman Golf Club in Taconic, NY. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole, two-day format and the field was made from five divisions that included the Tiger Woods Division Boys 16-18, Will Smith Division Boys 14-15, Ernie Els Division Boys 11-13, Justin Timberlake Division Girls 14-18 and the Justin Rose Girls U13 Division.


Tiger Woods Boys 16-18

New York Summer Junior Open #2

Jack Woods of Danbury, CT captured the title in the Tiger Woods Boys 16-18 division with a solid two-day total of 152. With firing a first round 73, Jack was able to cruise to a 4-shot victory over Steven Wieder who finished solo 2nd with a 2-day total of 156. Steven’s consistent play during both rounds was able to keep distance from Madison Bentley and Samuel Taylor who tied for 3rd shooting 2-day totals of 161 respectively.

Will Smith Boys 14-15

New York Summer Junior Open #2

In the Will Smith Boys 14-15 division Devin Littler from Poughquag, NY took home the victory this weekend by firing a second-round score of 76 which accumulated a 2-day total of 164. Devin was 4 shots behind the leader Tyler Clark after Saturday’s round. Tyler Clark from West Babylon, NY took runner-up position with a 2-day total of 167. Evan Koutsopetras rounded out the boys 14-15 division with a 3rd place finish.

Ernie Els 11-13

New York Summer Junior Open #2

Lucas Rizo-Patron of Rye, NY did not disappoint in the Ernie Els boys 11-13 division as he went on to win his division by an impressive 5 shots. Rizo-Patron posted a final round of 73 which totaled a 2-day score of 150. Behind Rizo Patron was Giancarlo DiLeo from Lido Beach, NY who shot a final round 75 to maintain an outright second place finish with a 36-hole total of 155. Luke Huang from Great Neck, NY rounded out a 3rd place finish with shooting scores of 79-80.

Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18

New York Summer Junior Open #2

Isabella Diaz from Ballston Spa, NY ended up with the victory within the Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18 Division in a heated battle as she won the event by 3 shots. Diaz shot back to back 79’s (158). Morgan Shepard from New York, NY took second place honors in firing rounds of 80-81. After shooting 89 day 1, Kara Kniezweski was able to bounce back and shoot a second round 77 to finish solo 3rd place with a 2-day total of 166.

Justin Rose Girls U13

New York Summer Junior Open #2

In the Justin Rose Girls U13 division, Sophia Li from New York, NY cruised to a 6-shot victory after firing a 2-day 36-hole total of 155. Maya Beasley of Croton on Hudson, NY placed solo 2nd after shooting rounds of 78-83. Lia Huang of Great Neck, NY rounded out the girls U13 division shooting rounds of 84-86.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
