From Friday, June 15th through Sunday June 16th, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the new York Junior Open The tournament was made up of a 54-hole format with a field of five divisions that included the Tiger Woods Division Boys 16-18, Will Smith Division Boys 14-15, Ernie Els Division Boys 11-13, Justin Timberlake Division Girls 14-18, and the Justin Rose Division Girls 13 and Under.
Grant Griswold of Walpole, MA had a final round of 77 to claim victory honors over his closest rival. Griswold was able to win by a margin of five shots and a weekend total of 158 and five total birdies. Harrison Blech of Suffern, NY and finished in second place with rounds of 79and 84 for the weekend and claim runner-up honors with a 163 shots total. Rounding up the top-three was Darren Horton of Glenham, NY with a weekend total of 168 to take solo third-place honors.
Owen Rooney of Buffalo, NY claimed victory honors for the weekend with rounds of 80 and 82, making 1 birdie the last day to finish at a three-day total of 162 strokes. Ziming Qiu of Wuhan, China claimed runner-up honors with a three day total of 168, just 6shots shy of the winner for the division. Rounding up the top three was Justin Fox of Larchmont, NY with a weekend total of 169 shots to claim solo third-place honors.
Jonathan Weinberg of New York, NY claimed victory honors after leading all weekend and finishing with a two-day total of 162 strokes. Weinberg was on top of the leaderboard with rounds of 80and 82 to seal his victory. Jonathan Oakes of Dobss Ferry, NY shot a weekend total of 165 strokes finishing with runner-up honors by a 3 shot margin with 2 birdies on Sunday. Rounding up the top-three was Andrew Liu of Clinton, NJ with a weekend total of 174 shots to claim solo third-place honors.
Daphne Chao of Shanghai, China was able to seal her victory with a two-day total of 161 shots and a first-round lead of 80. Chao shot an 81 on Sunday to win by a margin of one stroke over Amanda Phillips of New York, NY. Phillips shot an 82 on Sunday to close her weekend at a total of 162 shots and claim solo runner-up honors. Rounding up the top three was Sofia Nogalo of Irvington, NY with a weekend total of 176 and claim solo third-place honors.
Gina Milazzo of Greenwood Lake, NY shot a three-day total of 166 shots to seal an impressive 14-shot victory. Milazzo closed out her week with final round of 81 with a birdie on 12 to claim victory. Following her was Catherine Andino of Port Washington, NY with a weekend total of 182 shots to finish with solo runner-up honors. And rounding up our top-three was Marisa Flores of Paramus, NJ with a two-day total of 185shots and claim solo third-place honors.
