From Saturday, June 8ththrough Sunday June 9th, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the New Jersey Summer Junior Open. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole format with a field of six divisions that included the Tiger Woods Division Boys 16-18, Will Smith Division Boys 14-15, Ernie Els Division Boys 11-13, Bryson DeChambeau Boys 10 and Under, Justin Timberlake Division Girls 14-18, and the Justin Rose Division Girls 13 and Under.

Tiger Woods Boys 16-18

New Jersey Summer Jr. Open

Burton Fricke of Mendham, NJ took the first-round lead after scoring a 78 and remain at the top of the leaderboard all weekend. Fricke shot a total of 159 strokes for the weekend and claim victory on Sunday with a birdie on hole 7. Raymond Xiong of Plainsboro, NJ finished in second place with rounds of 84 and 77 for runner-up honors with a two-day total of 161 shots. Rounding up the top-three was Ryan Rinaldo of Colts Neck, NJ with a weekend total of 165 shots to claim solo third-place honors.

Will Smith Boys 14-15

New Jersey Summer Jr. Open

Sam Bennett of Ellicott City, MD claimed victory honors for the weekend. Bennet shot a two-day total of 170 shots and a birdie on hole 16 on Sunday to seal the victory. Ethan Rand of Charlotte, NC finished runner-up with a two-day total of 171 shots to round-up the division just one shot shy of the first place.

Ernie Els 11-13

New Jersey Summer Jr. Open

Matthew DiFiore of Malverne, NY shot an impressive last round of 71 one-under with birdies on holes 3, 4, 6, 15 and 18 to claim victory. DiFiore finished with a two-day total of 154 strokes to win by a margin of 8 shots over Jack Rosen, of Boca Raton, FL and Luke Huang of Great Neck, NY. Rosen and Huang tied for runner-up honors with weekend totals of 162 shots.

Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18

New Jersey Summer Jr. Open

Amanda Phillips of New York, NY claimed victory on Sunday with a two-day total of 154 shots. Phillips was able to win by a margin of 19 strokes and a final round of 78 to secure the win. Following her was Yelinko Rayne of Netcong, NJ who closed her week at a total of 175 shots and claim solo runner-up honors. Rounding up the top three was Sofia Nogalo of Invington NY,  with a three-day total of 177 shots to claim solo third-place honors.

Justin Rose Girls U13

New Jersey Summer Jr. Open

Hannah Rabb of Watsontown, PA shot a two-day total of 162 shots for the weekend to seal a two-shot victory over her closest competitor. Rabb closed out her week with a final round of 80 on Sunday to claim victory. Following her was Melissa Yuan of Short Hills, NJ with a weekend total of 164 shots and a final-round 81 on Sunday. And rounding up our top-three Emily Renoff of Glen Ridge, NJ with a weekend total of 164 shots as well to finish tied for runner-up honors with Yuan.

Boys 10 Under

New Jersey Summer Jr. Open

Luke Renoff of Glen Ridge shot a weekend total of 187 strokes with birdies on holes 7, 8 and 18 to claim victory. Our lone competitor closed out the week with a final round 81 to seal the victory.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
