Myrtle Beach Summer Junior Open

From August 6-7, 2022, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Myrtle Beach Summer Junior Open. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole format with a field of five divisions that included the Boys 16-18 Division, Boys 14-15 Division, Boys 11-13 Division, Boys Under 10 Division, and Girls 14-18 Division.

Myrtle Beach Summer Junior Open

Matthew Costello, from Taunton, Massachusetts was the first-place finisher this weekend. Costello brought in scores of 80 and 72 for a combined total of 152 for the weekend. Jonathan Cowell, from Murrels Inlet, South Carolina, Robert Higbe, from Andrews, South Carolina, and Ty O'Brien, from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina tied for the runner up this weekend with scores of 78 and 75, 78 and 75, and 78 and 75, respectively, for a combined total of 153 each.

Frank Lockwood, from Charleston, South Carolina was the first-place finisher this weekend. Lockwood brought in scores of 79 and 81 for a combined total of 160 for the weekend. PJ Foley, from Northfield, New Jersey was the runner up with scores of 80 and 82 for a combined total of 162. Parker Harcum, from Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina finished the top three honors with scores of 84 and 81 for a weekend total of 165.

ThomasCampbell McLain, from Pawleys Island, South Carolina was the first-place finisher this weekend. McLain brought in scores of 71 and 68 for a combined total of 139 for the weekend. Dexter James Jr. from Hudson, Ohio was the runner up with scores of 84 and 76 for a combined total of 160. Emmet Walsh, from Spartanburg, South Carolina finished the top three honors with scores of 81 and 81 for a weekend total of 162.

Calley Holbert, from Knoxville, Tennessee was the first-place finisher this weekend. Holbert brought in scores of 83 and 86 for a combined total of 169 for the weekend. Jackie Friebert, from Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina was the runner up this weekend with scores of 93 and 90 for a combined total of 183. Jadyn Thompson, from Knoxville, Tennessee finished the top three honors with scores of 92 and 96 for a weekend total of 188.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intention of providing junior golfers between the ages of 8-18 an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. The tour’s vision is to provide superb hospitality and make every event a memorable one. With play open to both males and females, nearly every junior golfer is eligible to participate on the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour. Currently the HJGT is the largest multi-day junior golf tour in the United States hosting more 2-day nationally ranked events than any other tour. The HJGT has been able to achieve this goal by running the most professional events and providing an exceptional value to all of our players and families over the last 14 years.

Based out of Orlando, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the country. In 2021, the HJGT will conduct events in Alabama, Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and Canada. Juniors will compete in 1 of 6 divisions which are: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys under 10, Girls 14-18, and Girls Under 13. Click here to view approximate yardages for each division. The HJGT season is based on a calendar year and players earn points throughout the season towards year end honors beginning December 31, 2021.
