On July 11, 2021, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Mohegan Sun Junior Open. The tournament was made up of a 18-hole format with a field of six divisions that included the Boys 16-18 Division, Boys 14-15 Division, Boys 11-13 Division, Boys Under 10 Division, Girls 14-18 Division, and Girls Under 13 Division.
Boys 16-18

Tyler Vitolo from Newtown, CT was the first-place finisher this weekend. Vitolo brought in a score of 73 (+1) for the tournament. Thomas O’Connell from Wellesley, MA and Dylan Reissman from Woodcliff Lake, NJ tied for second place. Both players had a score of 76 (+4).
Boys 14-15

Jonathan Oakes from Dobbs Ferry, NY was the first-place finisher this weekend. Oakes brought in a score of 76 (+4) to put him at the top of the leaderboard. Andrew Dunn from Middletown, CT and Brandon Frye from Bristol, CT tied for second place with a score of 80 (+8).
Boys 11-13

Asher Katz from Ridgefield, CT was the first-place finisher this weekend. Katz brought in a score of 74 (+2). Spencer Cohen from Roslyn Heights, NY was the runner up for the weekend with a score of 79 (+7). Joey Iaciofano from Lincoln, RI finished the top three honors with a score of 81 (+9).
Girls 14-18

There was a three way tie in regulation play for the Girls 14-18 division. Lucy McCabe from Marlborough, MA secured first place by playoff, with Clara Chae from Natick, MA taking second place, and Sarah DeSanto from West Hartford, CT finishing third. All three had a score of 80 (+8).
Girls U13

Kylie Heffernan from Lancaster, MA was the first-place finisher this weekend. Heffernan brought in a winning score of 81 (+9). Eve Krinsky from Pound Ridge, NY was the runner up for the weekend with a score of 96 (+24).
Boys 10 Under

Aleksander Mack from Stamford, CT was the first-place finisher this weekend. Mack brought in a winning score of 86 (+14). Thomas Sullivan from Watertown, CT was the runner up for the weekend with a score of 88 (+16).

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour
The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intention of providing junior golfers between the ages of 8-18 an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. The tour’s vision is to provide superb hospitality and make every event a memorable one. With play open to both males and females, nearly every junior golfer is eligible to participate on the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour. Currently the HJGT is the largest multi-day junior golf tour in the United States hosting more 2-day nationally ranked events than any other tour. The HJGT has been able to achieve this goal by running the most professional events and providing an exceptional value to all of our players and families over the last 14 years.
Based out of Orlando, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the country. In 2021, the HJGT will conduct events in Alabama, Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and Canada. Juniors will compete in 1 of 6 divisions which are: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys under 10, Girls 14-18, and Girls Under 13. Click here to view approximate yardages for each division. The HJGT season is based on a calendar year and players earn points throughout the season towards year end honors beginning December 31, 2021.
