On Saturday September 22 – Sunday September 23, 2018 The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Minnesota Junior Open at The Wilds GC in Prior Lake, MN. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole, two-day format and the field was made from Five divisions that included the Tiger Woods Division Boys 16-18, Will Smith Division Boys 14-15, Ernie Els Division Boys 11-13, Bryson Dechambeau Division U10, and the Justin Timberlake Division Girls 14-18.
Matt Armstrong captured the first-place finish at the Minnesota Junior Open in the Tiger Woods Boys 16-18 division with a 2-day total of 145(74-71). With solid play both days, Armstrong was able to hold off Carter Doose by 4 shots. Carson Herron rounded out the division with the 3rd place finish shooting a 2-day total of 150 (74-76).
In the Will Smith Boys 14-15 division Brooks Loeffler of Eagan, MN took home first place this weekend in shooting a 2-day total of 165. Solid play in the second round allowed Loeffler to take victory over Hogan Reuter with his finish being 169. Rounding out the competition is Jack Schrader who finished with a 2-day total of 199.
Carter Spalding did not disappoint in the Ernie Els boys 11-13 division as he carded rounds of 72-71 to win in his division over Ryan Stendahl of Maple Grove, MN who carded rounds of 75-78 to claim 2nd place. Zachary Stennes shot a 2-day total of 156 (74-82) to take a solo 3rd place finish.
Jessica Guiser ended up with the first-place finish in the Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18 Division by carding a total of 158 (77-81).With consistent rounds, Guiser was able to hold off Maddie Simon of Mahtomedi, MN by 9 shots and claiming 2nd place. Rounding out the division was Rileigh Vojta of Saint Francis, MN who shot a 2-day total of 168 to claim a 3rd place finish.
Boys 10 Under
In the Bryson Dechambeau U10 division Ryder Haskins of Minnetrista, MN took home the victory by firing a 2-day total of 212.
