Minneapolis Junior Open

On Saturday September 8 – Sunday September 9, 2018 The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Minneapolis Junior Open at Legacy Golf in Faribault, MN. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole, two-day format and the field was made from five divisions that included the Tiger Woods Division Boys 16-18, Will Smith Division Boys 14-15, Ernie Els Division Boys 11-13, Justin Rose Division Girls U13 and the Justin Timberlake Division Girls 14-18.

Tiger Woods Boys 16-18

Minneapolis Junior Open

Nick LaMotte captured the first-place finish at the Minneapolis Junior Open in the Tiger Woods Boys 16-18 division with a 2-day total of 141 (71-70). With solid play both days, LaMotte was able to hold off David Morton by 3 shots. Matthew Cooper rounded out the division with the 3rd place finish shooting a 2-day total of 147 (80-67).

Will Smith Boys 14-15

Minneapolis Junior Open

In the Will Smith Boys 14-15 division Owen Mullen of Nova Scotia took home first place this weekend in shooting a 2-day total of 144. Solid play in the second round allowed Mullen to take victory over Brooks Loeffler, Maxamillian Xiong, Ian Meyer, and Ken Shibata who all finished tied for second place with a 2-day total of 152 .

Ernie Els 11-13

Minneapolis Junior Open

Carter Spalding did not disappoint in the Ernie Els boys 11-13 division as he carded rounds of 72-73 to win in his division over Parker Sands of Woodbury who carded rounds of 77-74 to claim 2nd place. Ryan Stendahl shot a 2-day total of 158 (81-77) to take a solo 3rd place finish.

Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18

Minneapolis Junior Open

Ananda Zhai ended up with the first-place finish in the Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18 Division by carding a total of 154 (78-76). With consistent rounds, Zhai was able to hold off Gabby Tremblay of Hayward, WI by 4 shots and claiming 2nd place. Rounding out the division was Piper Hill of Medford, MN who shot a 2-day total of 160 to claim a 3rd place finish.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
