On Saturday, November 11th, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour traveled to Pawleys Island, South Carolina to hold the Military Appreciation Junior Shootout at True Blue Golf Plantation which hosted the tournament as well. Saturday and Sunday saw equally beautiful, breezy conditions perfect for low scores and plenty of smiles. There was a lot at stake during the tournament as the top 10 finishers received points towards year end honors which include state teams, All HJGT teams and the Hurricane Cup. There were also Junior Golf Scoreboard Rankings (JGS), South Carolina Junior Golf Association Heritage Points (SCJGA) and Tarheel Youth Golf Association Points (TYGA) on the line as well for qualified players. Overall, the Military Golf Appreciation Shootout Golf Plantation allowed for a weekend full of great competition from all divisions with elevated levels of play from the nation’s most talented junior golfers.
Boys 16-18

Fabricio Gaxiola is the boys 16-18 champion. The Cordoba, MX native took home the division championship by edging out his competition in two highly contested rounds. Our division champion posted a 75 on Saturday and 74 on Sunday for a two-day total of 149 in route to a victory. Pontus Torgner from North Myrtle Beach, SC finished in second with a two-day total of 153 (76-77). Third place was won by Drew Mullen (78-76) of Pawleys Island, SC with a total of 154. The field, spectators, and staff were excited to see such a fantastic finish by this division full of talented competitors.
Boys 14-15

Andrew Kaslick is the champion of the boys 14-15 division. The Summerville, SC native posted rounds of 76 and 72 for a two-day total of 148 by playing sharp and consistent. Mauricio Miranda Miranda of Myrtle Beach, SC took home the second-place trophy after finishing with a two-day total of 152 (77-75). Third place was taken home by Angel E Guerra of North Myrtle Beach, SC for a two-day total of 153 (76-77). The play of this division was enjoyed by the field, spectators and staff who were excited to see such great play and effort from these promising young golfers.
Boys 11-13

Trenton Cade is the boys 11-13 champion. An 86 and 84 were strong enough to secure the victory for the Ocean Isle Beach, NC native, who finished with a two-day total of 170. Jose Fernandez Jr. (97-88) of Myrtle Beach, SC took home second place posting a two-day score of 185. These group of boys showed nothing but class, sportsmanship, and gentleman like behavior over the course of the tournament, which showed in their play.
Girls 14-18

Maria Arenas of Myrtle Beach, SC is the girls 14-18 champion. Arenas paired an 76 Saturday with an 76 Sunday for a two- day total of 152 to edge out the competition and win the girls 14-18 division. Mercedes Rudolf of Myrtle Beach, SC finished second for a two-day total of 153 (81-72). Third place was taken by Susana Olivares of Guadalajara, MX with a two-day score of 156 (83-73). The ladies all enjoyed their experience, even with some intense competition down the stretch.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour
In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.
The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
