Major Championship at the Architects

From Wednesday June 26th through Thursday June 27th, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Major Championship at the Architects. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole format with a field of six divisions that included the Tiger Woods Division Boys 16-18, Will Smith Division Boys14-15, Ernie Els Division Boys 11-13, Bryson DeChambeau Division Boys 10 and Under, Justin Timberlake Division Girls 14-18, and the Justin Rose Division Girls 13 and Under.

Major Championship at the Architects

Chase Millar of Summit, NJ took the first-round lead after scoring an outstanding 69. Millar remained at the top of the leaderboard all weekend, with a final round of 77 and winning by a margin of 2 strokes. There was a three way tie for our runner-up honors between Matthew Weaver of York, PA-, James Vinson of Princeton, NJ and Cameron Deluliis of Highland, MD. All three players had weekend totals of 148 strokes, rounding our top-three honors for the division.

Will Smith Boys 14-15

Major Championship at the Architects

Francis Lanuza of the Philippines was able to seal his victory with rounds of 74 and 75 over the weekend, making one birdie the last day to finish at a two-day total of 149 strokes. Santino Dioknoof the Philippines claimed runner-up honors with a weekend day total of 151, just 2 shots shy of the winner for the division. Rounding up the top three was Ryan Kai Nam Leung of Hong Kong with a weekend total of 155 strokes and claim solo third-place honors.

Ernie Els 11-13

Major Championship at the Architects

Zachary Munno of Stamford, CT was able to seal his victory with a final round of 71 and a weekend total of 146strokes. Munno made 4 birdies the last day to win by a five-shot victory over his closest competitor. Mihir Roperia of Cranbury, NJ shot a weekend total of151 shots and claimed runner-up honors. Rounding up our top-three was a two-way tie between Holden Schipper of Lebanon NJ and Angad Manaise of Stamford, CT with weekend totals of 153 shots to claim third place for the division.

Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18

Major Championship at the Architects

Olivia Patrow of East Stroudsburg, PA claimed first-place honors with a weekend total of 142 shots. Patrow  was able to seal her victory with weekend rounds of 73 and 76 to win by a five-shot margin.  Yue Xu of Green Township, NJ shot a weekend total of 147 shots and a 70 on Sunday to claim solo runner-up honors. Rounding up the top three was Bela Mead of Sunny Isles Beach, FL with a weekend total of 148 shots and a 72 on Sunday to claim solo third-place honors.

Justin Rose Girls U13

Major Championship at the Architects

Gina Milazzo of Greenwood Lake, NY shot a weekend total of 155 shots and an early lead with a 73 on Saturday. Milazzo was able to win by two-shot margin over her closest competitor. Following her was Emily Renoff of Glen Ridge, NJ with a weekend total of 157 shots to finish with solo runner-up honors. And rounding up our top-three was Julia Zigrossi of Spencerport, NY with a weekend total of 162 shots and take solo third-place honors.

Luke Renoff of Glen Ridge, NJ was our lone competitor for the division with a weekend total of 181 shots. Renoff shot consistent rounds over the weekend to claim victory on Sunday.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
