Major Championship at Polo Fields

From Saturday June 1stthrough Sunday June 2nd, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Major Championship at Polo Fields Golf Club, KY. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole format with a field of six divisions that included the Tiger Woods Division Boys 16-18, Will Smith Division Boys 14-15, Ernie Els Division Boys 11-13, Bryson DeChambeau Division Boys 10 and Under, Justin Timberlake Division Girls 14-18, and the Justin Rose Division Girls 13 and Under.

Tiger Woods Boys 16-18

Major Championship at Polo Fields

Ballard Harris of Louisville, KY took the first-round lead after scoring an outstanding 68 and remaining at the top of the leaderboard all weekend. Harris followed up his exceptional first-round score with a 75 on Sunday with birdies on 13, 14 and 18 for a thirteen-shot victory over Kody Reynolds of Columbus, IN. Reynolds finished in second place after shooting a two-round total of 156 with consistent rounds of 78 both days. And rounding up the top-three was Dylan McGrath of Louisville, KY with a 161 total for the weekend.

Will Smith Boys 14-15

Major Championship at Polo Fields

Brett Cooper of Hixson, TN shot a three-day total of 155 to take an early lead on Saturday with a 74 and remain in contention through Sunday, winning with an eight-stroke margin over his closest competitor. Closing out the week with an 81 on Sunday and birdies on numbers 3 and 5, Cooper was able to take home the hardware. Runner-up Joseph Powers of Louisville, KY shot a three-day total of 163 to take solo second-place honors with a first-round 79. Rounding up the top-three for the division was Happy Gilmore of Bloomfield, IN with a total of 167 for the week and taking solo third-place honors.

Ernie Els 11-13

Major Championship at Polo Fields

Grant Broughton of Owensboro, KY led the Ernie Els Boys Division with a 160 two-round total to take an early lead with a first-round 82 and stay at the top of the leaderboard. Broughton closed out his two-day total with an outstanding 78 on Sunday and birdies on numbers 5 and 8. Following his lead, Weston Miller of Jackson, IN improved his scoring the last day to finish with a 161 two-round total and take runner-up honors by only a shot off the lead. And finishing up the top-three was Jack Talbott of Louisville, KY with a 166 total to take home solo third-place honors.

Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18

Major Championship at Polo Fields

Connor Geralds of Tompkinsville, KY shot a stellar two-day total of 155 to take home first-place honors with a two-shot margin over her closest competitor. Geralds finished her week with a 74 on Sunday to seal her victory with birdies on numbers 5 and 8. Following her was Grace Walker of Louisville, KY with a two-day total of 157 and a stellar final round of 74. Rounding up the top-three, Jacqueline Steier of Louisville, KY shot a two-round total of 164 to take home solo third-place honors.

Justin Rose Girls U13

Major Championship at Polo Fields

Mia Hammond of Crooksville, OH shot a stellar 72 the last day to win with a two-day total of 150 strokes. With an impressive margin of eleven shots, Hammond was able to seal the victory and take home first-place honors with birdies on holes 4, 10 and 13. Following her was Emree Cameron of Nevada, MO with a two-day total of 161 and claim solo runner-up honors. Rounding up the top-three was Carter Lankford with a 172 two-day total to take third-place honors.

Boys 10 Under

Major Championship at Polo Fields

Cooper Smith of Jasper, GA lead the way in the Boys 10 and Under division with a total of 159 strokes for the week. Shooting a stellar 77 the first day to finish at the top of the leaderboard by an impressive nineteen-shot margin and take home first place solo honors with birdies on numbers 5 and 13 the last day. Lyoto Bellon of Saint Louis, MO finished with a 178 total for runner-up honors with a final round 88.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
