Major Championship at Fieldstone

On Saturday September 23rd, 2017, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour hosted a Major Championship at Fieldstone Golf Club in Auburn Hills Michigan. The HJGT would like to thank the gracious staff at the Fieldstone Golf Club for allowing us to host our event at such a great venue. Players toughed it out through rising temperatures over the weekend persevering to some great scores in both rounds.  Over the weekend we witnessed some great golf full of intense competition and exemplary sportsmanship. 

Tiger Woods Boys 16-18

Major Championship at Fieldstone

Philip Wong of West Boomfield, MI came away with our Boys 16-18.  Consistency was key for Philip as he posted a 76 on Saturday and a shot a 77 on Sunday to claim his victory. It’s because of his consistency that he was able to come out on top for this tournament.The person trailing behind Philip is Zachary Fraser. He came out trailing behind with a score of 158. Coming in third in the Boys 16-18 division is a tie between Robby Golobo and Parker Pickell. Both having a score of 162.

Will Smith Boys 14-15

Major Championship at Fieldstone

Brockton English from Shelby Township, MI finished this weekend as our Boys 14-15 champion.  Brockton preserved through a tough course and rising temperatures to a victory.  English posted a 78 in round one and an 82 on Sunday to cap a Major Championship victory. Coming in second place within this age division we have Neil Zhu. He played a close game against his component with Saturday scores being at a 79 and Sunday scores being at a 83. This gave him the two-day score of 162. Following second place we have Gaige Keaneand and Brennan Welsh who have both tied for third.They were neck and neck by the end of both of the games.

Ernie Els 11-13

Major Championship at Fieldstone

Lorenzo Pinili, from Rochester Hills, MI is our Champion of the Boys 11-13 division. Pinili had a strong weekend finishing strong and battling through some very tough competition.  Lorenzo posted a 77 in round one.  On Sunday Lorenzo had a great round shooting a 73 after making 4 birdies on the back nine to come out on top as Champion. Dhruv Kumar and Justin Sui both tied for second place. Both were neck and neck with points between both Saturday and Sunday. Kumar shot a score of76 while Sui had a score of 75 while Kumar came in with the shot of 79 and Sui had the shot of 75.

Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18

Major Championship at Fieldstone

The Champion of the Girls 14-18 division is Kaitlyn Rittner from Algonac, MI. Kaitlyn kept her cool through sweltering heat and was able to shoot critical shots when needed to come away with the victory. Saturday he shot an 83 and an 84 on Saturday. This left Rittner with a two-day total of 167. Leading behind Rittner was Savannah Weyrauch. Savannah ended the tournament with a score of a two-day total shooting an 83 and an 87 between both rounds. Trailing in third we have Grace Mitchell. She shot 86 between both rounds this past weekend leaving her with the total of 172.

Justin Rose Girls U13

Major Championship at Fieldstone

Elizabeth Anderson, from Lockport, Illinois is our Girls 13 Under Champion. Shooting a 78 and a 77 between both rounds paved her a clear path to victory. Coming in second place behind Elizabeth we have Katherine Schaefer who is from Kalamazoo MI. Her scores of 88 and 85 put her in second place. Trailing in third place of the Girls Under 13 division was Kristy Mitchell.

Boys 10 Under

Major Championship at Fieldstone

Preston Johnson, from Bloomfield Hills, MI came away as our Boys 10 Under champion. Preston battled through the heat and the long course and shot a 90 and 92 to come out on top. Sam Carraher came behind him shooting a 94 in round one and a 96 in round two. This gives him a two day total of 190 for the event.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
