Major Championship at Buffalo Grove

From Saturday, June 8ththrough Sunday June 9th, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Major Championship at Buffalo Grove. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole format with a field of six divisions that included the Tiger Woods Division Boys 16-18, Will Smith Division Boys 14-15, Ernie Els Division Boys 11-13, Bryson DeChambeau Division Boys 10 and Under, Justin Timberlake Division Girls 14-18, and the Justin Rose Division Girls 13 and Under.

Boys 16-18

Major Championship at Buffalo Grove

Aidan Gutierrez of Valparaiso, IN took the lead after scoring an outstanding 71 on Sunday. Gutierrez’s final round helped him seal a one-shot victory over his closest competitor with birdies on holes 10, 14 and 15 the last day. Mark Noonan of Vernon Hills, IL  finished in second place with rounds of 72 and 78, and a weekend total of 10 shots. And rounding up the top-three was Truman Keppy of Lakemoor, IL with a three-day total of 151 strokes and claim solo third-place honors.

Boys 14-15

Major Championship at Buffalo Grove

Sebastian Kasun of Elm Grove, WI was able to seal his victory with rounds of 78-78 over the weekend, making 3 birdies the last day to finish at a two-day total of 156 strokes. Cristian Ponce of Ofallon, MO claimed runner-up honors with a two-day total of 158, just 2 shots shy of the winner for the division. Rounding up the top three was Eric Schall of Glen Ellyn, IL with a two-day total of 168 shots and claim solo third-place honors.

Major Championship at Buffalo Grove

Luke Kruger of Arlington Heights, IL was able to seal his victory with a three-day total of 161 strokes and win by a margin of 11 shots over his closest competitor. Walker Grelle of Barrington, IL claimed runner-up honors with a total of 172 strokes for the weekend and a birdie the last day. Rounding up our top-three was Liam Lodding fron Huntley, IL with an impressive final round of 71 to finish at 174 strokes for the weekend and claim solo third-place honors.

Girls 14-18

Major Championship at Buffalo Grove

Rachel DeAngulo of Coconut Grove, FL claimed first-place honors with a final round 72 on Sunday to claim the lead. DeAngulo won by an impressive 11 strokes margin with a one-under total for the weekend. Following her was Lisa Copeland of Naperville, IL who shot a 75 on Sunday to close her week at a total of 156 shots and claim solo runner-up honors. Rounding up the top three was Mandi Granato of Plainfield, IL with a total of 158 shots to claim solo third-place honors.

Girls U13

Major Championship at Buffalo Grove

Victoria Cui of Lake Forest, IL shot a two-round total of 212 shots to claim victory. The lone competitor improved her scoring on Sunday to seal the win for the weekend.

Major Championship at Buffalo Grove

Sam Carraher of Crown Point, IN finished with a three-day total of 140 shots and 3 under for the week. Carraher claimed first-place honors by shooting a 69 on Sunday with 5 birdies. Following his lead was William Cui of Lake Forest, IL with weekend total of 175 shots to claim solo runner-up honors. Rounding up our top-three was Jack Bell of Palatine, IL with a two-day total of 176 to claim third-place solo honors.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intention of providing junior golfers between the ages of 8-18 an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. The tour’s vision is to provide superb hospitality and make every event a memorable one. With play open to both males and females, nearly every junior golfer is eligible to participate on the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour. Currently the HJGT is the largest multi-day junior golf tour in the United States hosting more 2-day nationally ranked events than any other tour. The HJGT has been able to achieve this goal by running the most professional events and providing an exceptional value to all of our players and families over the last 14 years.

Based out of Orlando, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the country. In 2021, the HJGT will conduct events in Alabama, Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and Canada. Juniors will compete in 1 of 6 divisions which are: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys under 10, Girls 14-18, and Girls Under 13. Click here to view approximate yardages for each division. The HJGT season is based on a calendar year and players earn points throughout the season towards year end honors beginning December 31, 2021.
