On Saturday, June 9 – Sunday, June 10, 2018, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour hosted the Major Championship at Buffalo Grove in Buffalo Grove, Illinois. The two-day, thirty-six-hole tournament at Buffalo Grove Golf Club consisted of players from all six of our divisions, including the Tiger Woods Boys 16-18 Division, Will Smith Boys 14-15 Division, Ernie Els Boys 11-13 Division, Boys U10 Division, Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18 Division, and the Justin Rose Girls U13 Division.
Boys 16-18

Mark Noonan of Vernon Hills, Illinois, captured the title in the Tiger Woods Boys 16-18 Division after breaking even and finishing two under par (-2). He led his playing field with the lowest scoring average (71), the most birdies (10), and the longest birdie or better streak (4). Maximilian Plasota, of Northbrook, Illinois, finished even (E) as the second-place finisher with 144 strokes and 5 birdies. Third-place finisher was Drew Sagrillo of Pewaukee, Wisconsin who finished +2 with a total of 146 strokes.
Boys 14-15

In the Will Smith Boys 14-15 Division, Jack Roemer of Bettendorf, Iowa, took home the first-place victory with a two-day total of 149 strokes (+5). He had the lowest scoring average of 74.5 and made 3 birdies. Second-place finisher, Charlie Haggerty of Lake Forest, Illinois, shot +7 with 151 total strokes. Billy Fishbein from Long Grove, Illinois, finished third-place with his 154 strokes (+10) and tied for the most birdies with 5.
Boys 11-13

McKean Collins of Lexington, Kentucky, placed first in the Ernie Els Boys 11-13 Division with a +4 (148 strokes) finish after thirty-six holes. He made 6 birdies and led his playing field with the lowest scoring average of 74. As for second-place, it was Richmond, Kentucky’s Landen Howard who shot +11 with 155 strokes and made 4 birdies. Issa Kuwahara and Troy Nason, both of Northbrook, Illinois, tied for third-place after finishing with a total of 157 strokes (+13). Nason tied first-place finisher McKean Collins for the most birdies with 6. Collins, Howard, and Nason all tied for the longest birdie or better streak of 2.
Girls 14-18

Emily Chang captured the Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18 Division after breaking even (-1) in the final round for a two-round total of +4 (148 strokes). Chang, from Chicago, Illinois, led her playing field with the lowest scoring average of 74. Gianna Clemente, of Warren, Ohio, finished second with 150 strokes (+6). Chang and Clemente both tied for the longest birdie or better streak (2) in their field. Third-place finisher was Ananda Zhai, of Woodbury, Minnesota, who made 151 strokes for a +7 finish. All Top 3 finishers (Chang, Clemente, and Zhai) tied for the most birdies in their field, each with 5.
Girls U13

The Justin Rose Girls U13 Division’s first-place finisher was Lisa Copeland of Naperville, Illinois who finished +13 after 157 strokes in the two-day tournament. She had the lowest scoring average of 78.5 and made 2 birdies. This is Lisa’s first 1st place victory on tour this year, following three 2nd place and two 4th place finishes.
Boys 10 Under

The Boys U10 Division’s first-place finisher was Leo Huddleston from Maryville, Tennessee who finished +29 with a total of 173 strokes after making 1 birdie. He played his best round on Sunday after finishing the round with 81 strokes. While this is Leo’s third consecutive 1st place finish and fifth top 3 finish this year, this weekend’s play was his best finish with 173 strokes.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
