Major Championship at Bryan Park

On Thursday, August 24, 2017, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour traveled to Greensboro, NC to host the Major Championship at the beautiful Bryan Park. The players battled through a very hot weekend in Greensboro, but the heat wasn’t strong enough to keep us all from having some fun! The HJGT would like to thank the amazing staff of the Bryan Park Golf Course for their hospitality and ensuring excellent conditions for the field of play throughout the weekend.

Tiger Woods Boys 16-18

Major Championship at Bryan Park

Ryan O’Neil of Waxhaw, NC is the Boys 16-18 champion. O’Neil solidified the victory in his division carding a 76 Saturday and 83 Sunday for a two-day total of 159. Jace Arko of Cornelius, NC finished in 2nd with a two-day total of 164 (83-81).  3rd place was given to Jason Moore of Pilot Mountain, NC who carded a two-day total of 169 (82-87). The players had a great time competing against some of the best junior golfers in the country.

Will Smith Boys 14-15

Major Championship at Bryan Park

AJ Ford of Atlanta, GA is the champion of the Boys 14-15 division. Efficiency was key for Ford as he posted a round of 71 Saturday and 77 Sunday for a 148 two-day total to claim the title. Ethan Lukes of Chapel HIll, NC tied Josiah Crews for 2nd after finishing with a two-day total of 152 (80-72). Crews finished with a (77-75). This division had great competition and each player can walk away proud of their effort.

Ernie Els 11-13

Major Championship at Bryan Park

Jace Butcher of Wake Forest, NC  is the Boys 11-13 champion. After a strong 75 Saturday, Butcher closed with a final round of 83 to secure the victory finishing with a two-day total of 158. Bryant Armbruster of Spartanburg, SC came in 2nd with a two-day total of 160 (75-85). Cayden Bryner of Winston Salem, NC finished in 3rd place with a two-day total of 171 (87-84). The boys had a fun time navigating through the course and showed maturity beyond their years in surpassing its many challenges.

Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18

Major Championship at Bryan Park

Faith Francioso of Wantagh, NY is the Girls 14-18 champion. Francioso had a 79 Saturday and followed that with an 82 on Sunday for a two-day total of 161. Finishing in 2nd from Bristol, TN was Ivy Foran, who posted rounds of 88 and 82 to finish with a total of 170. Evin Flinchum of Summerfield, NC  finished in 3rd place with a two-day total of 179 (90-89). The ladies enjoyed their experience at Bryan Park, and showcased some intense competition down the stretch.

Justin Rose Girls U13

Major Championship at Bryan Park

Kirstyn Page is the Girls 13 and under champion. Page of King, NC emerged victorious after posting a two-day total of 186 (87-99). Kirstyn displayed tremendous fortitude while fighting through the difficult course layout with the Girls 14-18 group.

Boys 10 Under

Major Championship at Bryan Park

Sam Terry, of Thomasville, NC  took home the 1st place trophy for the Boys 10U division. Terry ended Saturday with a score of 85. He achieved a Sunday score of 76 to finish with a 161. Jackson Armbruster of Simpsonville, SC finished in 2nd with a two-day total of 178 (89-89). Coming in 3rd in the Boys 10U division was Jeremiah Smith of Bristow, VA, who finished with a 201 (105-96).

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
