On Thursday, August 31st, 2017, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour made its way to Bluffton, South Carolina to host the Low Country Shootout at the stunning Eagle’s Pointe Golf Club. The HJGT would like to thank the gracious staff at the Eagle’s Pointe Golf Club for allowing us to host our event at such a great venue. Players fought through wet conditions and looming storms over the weekend to shoot some very impressive scores in both rounds. We had some exciting golf over the weekend, including a local area boy showcasing his skill set against some older competition.
Local area 13-year-old Jonathan Griz (Hilton Head Island, SC) played up a whopping two age divisions to finish as the Boys 16-18 champion. Griz solidified the victory in his division by carding a 67 on Saturday and a 68 on Sunday for an incredible two-day total of 135. Jeremy Sisson of Skaneateles, NY finished in 2nd place with a two-day total of 141 (68-73). J.T. Herman of Hilton Head Island, SC was our 3rd place finisher totaling in with a score of 147 (74-73). Players enjoyed the intense competition of this weekend’s field, and had a great time doing so.
Trey Tesiero of Saint Johns, FL is the champion of the Boys 14-15 division. Consistent golf play was key for Tesiero as he posted a round of 76 Saturday and 76 Sunday for a 152 two-day total to claim the title. Mudit Rana of Noida, India came in 2nd after finishing with a two-day total of 162 (84-78). Bert Olsen finished close behind Rana and was awarded 3rd place after a two-day total of 164 (85-79). Playing hard through tough conditions, this division showed tremendous attitude and effort.
Reed Lotter of Savannah, GA is the Boys 11-13 champion. Lotter scored a 74 on Saturday and ended Sunday’s round with an impressive 71 for a two-day total of 144. Finishing in 2nd place from Marietta, GA was Ethan Smith who posted rounds of 77 and 77 with a two-day total of 154. Andrew Kim of Alpharetta, GA was our 3rd place finisher with a two-day total of 156 (77-79). These gentlemen showed great composure and effort when exhaustion started to set in.
Vivian Yen, from Taipei is the Girls 14-18 champion. Yen played both solid and consistent golf to edge out the competition after posting a two-day total of 152 (76-76). Finishing in 2nd place from Hilton Head, SC is Savannah Hylton. Hylton posted a two-day total of 156 (78-78). In 3rd place was Maria Fernanda Sosa posting a two-day score of 157 (84-73). The ladies had a great time on the course and the competition was very close down the stretch.
Jacklyn Tang, from Penang is the Girls 13 Under champion. Tang played hard through the rough conditions and continued to make the shots she needed to in order to secure the victory. She posted a two-day score of 164 (81-83). Our 2nd place finisher from Saint Johns, FL was Marie Tesiero who posted a two-day score of 184 (97-87). These girls showed tremendous sportsmanship and attitude all weekend long.
