From Saturday, February 9 - Sunday, February 10, 2019, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Legacy at Lanier Junior Open at the Legacy on Lanier Golf Club in Buford, GA. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole, two-day format and the field was made up of six divisions that included the Tiger Woods Boys 16-18, Will Smith Boys 14-15, Ernie Els Boys 11-13, Bryson DeChambeau Boys 10 and Under, Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18, and the Justin Rose Girls 13 and Under Division. Tiger Woods Boys 16-18

Legacy at Lanier Junior Open

The champion of the Tiger Woods Division this past weekend was Hampus Wijkstrom of Saltsjobaden, Sweden, as he shot a 151. It was a tight race for second, as Matthew Peevy of Knoxville, TN and William Riggs of Suwannee, GA tied for second with a weekend total of 178 stokes.

Will Smith Boys 14-15

It was very competitive in the Will Smith Division, as Cole Humphrey of McDonough, GA and Dalton Burts of Peachtree, GA tied for first as they finished with 180 strokes. This went into a sudden-death play-off, where Dalton ended up on top. Rounding out the podium was Jason Grady of Conyers, GA who finished just one stroke behind the first-place finishers.

Leading off the Ernie Els Division was home towner Anthony Purcea of Buford GA with 164 strokes. Rounding out the division for second-place was Josh Durthaler of Dunwoody, GA with 197 strokes.

Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18

The Justin Timberlake Division did not disappoint this weekend, with the number one spot going to Hailey Han of Duluth, GA, who had a total of 156 strokes. In second place was Ally Buchanan of Athens, GA with 163 strokes. Just one stroke shy of second-place was Ava Merrill of Johns Creek, GA with 164 strokes.

Justin Rose Girls U13

Playing field was very competitive this past weekend in the Justin Rose Division, as Steele Southerland and Elle Marie Reisner, both of Atlanta, GA tied for first with 187 strokes. This went into a sudden-death playoff, where Southerland ended up on top. Rounding out the division was Alisa Pressley of Flowery Branch, GA with 193 strokes.

In the Bryson DeChambeau Division, Cooper Smith of Jasper, GA had a grand total of 177 strokes, capturing the first-place title. Dhruv Mereddy of Alpharetta, GA finished in second with 192 strokes.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
