Laurel Hill Jr. Shootout

On Saturday March 24 and Sunday March 25, 2018, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Laurel Hill Junior Shootout in Lorton, Virginia at the Laurel Hill Golf Club. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole, two-day format and the field consisted of golfers from six divisions that included the Tiger Woods Division Boys 16-18, Will Smith Division Boys 14-15, Ernie Els Division Boys 11-13, Boys Under 10, Justin Timberlake Division Girls 14-18 and the Justin Rose Division Girls Under 13. The HJGT would like to thank the staff of Laurel Hill Golf Club for providing a great venue for this tournament despite cold weather. 

Tiger Woods Boys 16-18

In the Tiger Woods Division Boys 16-18, Alex Price of Purcellville, Virginia took home the prize after an exciting playoff against Benjamin Kruper of Woodbridge, Virginia. At the end of the first two rounds before an exciting playoff Alex finished with a two-day score of 149 (74-75) and Benjamin finished with a two-day total score of 149 (73-76). Benjamin Kruper finished in second place after coming short in the playoff. Jonathan Zou of Vienna, Virginia finished in third place with a two-day score of 150 (77-73) coming within one stroke of the leaders.

Will Smith Boys 14-15

Laurel Hill Jr. Shootout

Reeve Felner of Vienna, Virginia finished in first place in the Will Smith Division Boys 14-15. Reeve finished with a two-day total score of 154 (77-77). Zachary Maloy (83-73) of Potomac, Maryland and Garnet Manley III (78-78) of Lynchburg, Virginia tied in second place with a two-day total score of 156.

Ernie Els 11-13

In the Ernie Els Division Boys 11-13, Bryan Kim of Brookeville, Maryland finished in first place with a two-day total score of 148 (73-75). Aryan Vuradi of Brambleton, Virginia came in second place with a two-day total score of 152 (76-76). George Siozos of Laval, Quebec finished in third place with a two-day total score of 156 (74-82).

Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18

In the Justin Timberlake Division Girls 14-18, Tigress Suh of Herndon, Virginia took home the prize, finishing with a two-day total score of 156 (75-81). Rachel Smith of Cumberland, Maine came in second place with a two-day total score of 163 (85-78). Sydney Leyerle of Helena, Ohio finished in third place with a two-day total score of 165 (83-82).

Justin Rose Girls U13

Victoria Matthews of Great Falls, Virginia finished in first place in the Justin Rose Division Girls Under 13. Victoria finished with a two-day total score 163 (82-81). Joey Ngyuen of Springfield, Virginia came in second place with a two-day total score of 174 (87-87). Shelby Herbert of Charlotte Hall, Maryland finished in third place with a two-day total score of 198 (101-97).

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
