On Saturday, July 7 – Sunday, July 8, 2018, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour hosted the Knoxville Junior Open #2 in Morristown, Tennessee. The two-day, thirty-six-hole tournament that took place at The Country Club consisted of players from five of our divisions, including the Tiger Woods Boys 16-18 Division, Will Smith Boys 14-15 Division, Boys U10 Division, Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18 Division, and the Justin Rose Girls U13 Division.

Tiger Woods Boys 16-18

Knoxville Junior Open #2

Peter Grimes of Milwaukee was victorious in the Tiger Woods Boys 16-18 as he finished +14 through the thirty-six holes. He led his playing field with the lowest scoring average (79) and the longest birdie or better streak (2). Second-place finisher Sawyer Spoone of Russellville, Tennessee ended the two-day tournament at +15. Caleb Gonzalez of Jonesborough, Tennessee finished third after his 165 strokes helped him finish at +21. 

Will Smith Boys 14-15

It was Samir Davidov of Roanoke who ended the two-day tournament as champion in the Will Smith Boys 14-15 Division as he finished at +17. He led his playing field with the lowest scoring average (80.5) and the most birdies (3). Nic Ravnborg of Dandridge, Tennessee made 168 strokes for a +24 finish. Renato Gerena Jr of Peachtree City, Georgia finished in third at +30 with 174 strokes through the thirty-six holes.

In the Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18 Division, it was Caleigh Street of Jewell Ridge that walked away the champion with her +22 finish. She made one birdie and led her playing field with the lowest scoring average at 82. Second-place finisher was Sanika Kulkarni of Alpharetta, Georgia who completed the two-day tournament at +27. Ivy Foran of Bristol, Tennessee finished third as her 172 strokes resulted in a +30 finish. 

Justin Rose Girls U13

Knoxville Junior Open #2

Maya Hira of Knoxville, Tennessee was victorious in the Justin Rose Girls U13 Division after completing the thirty-six holes at +68. Her little victories of 208 strokes, 4.4 Par 3 average, 104 scoring average, and 1 birdie helped her claim the first-place title. This is Maya’s second tournament this season, following her 3rd place finish in late April, which makes this victory her first.

Knoxville Junior Open #2

Grant McCall of Richlands captured the title in the Boys U10 Division after finishing +31. He led his playing field with the lowest scoring average (85.5), the lowest Par 3 average (4) and the most birdies (2). Leo Huddleston of Maryville, Tennessee’s 180 strokes (+40) helped him secure second place. Third-place finisher was Adam Wright of Knoxville who made 208 strokes to finish at +6.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
