On Thursday, September 7, 2017, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour traveled to Kodak, TN to host the Knoxville Junior Challenge at the beautiful River Islands Golf Club. The players battled through a fair day on Saturday, into a very windy Sunday round. All of the junior golfers fought very hard throughout the weekend, and certainly enjoyed their experience playing at River Islands Golf Club. The HJGT would like to thank the amazing staff of the River Islands Golf Club for their hospitality and ensuring excellent conditions for the field of play.
Tiger Woods Boys 16-18
Taylor Bismarck of Sevierville, TN is the Boys 16-18 champion. Bismarck solidified the victory in his division carding a 77 on Saturday and 76 on Sunday for a two-day total of 153. Chance Taylor of Gate City, VA finished in 2nd with a two-day total of 154 (78-76). Zach Steward took 3rd with a two-day total of 157 (80-77). The players had a great time competing against some of the best junior golfers in the country.
Will Smith Boys 14-15
Reece Britt of Maryville, TN is the champion of the Boys 14-15 division. He shot a nice 76 on Saturday and a very good 78 through tough Sunday conditions to score a total of 154. Jack Tickle of Bristol, TN and Aj Shaffer of Horse Shoe, NC tied for 2nd place with a 2 day total 156. This division had great competition and each player can walk away proud of their effort.
Ernie Els 11-13
Will Jones of Alpharetta, GA is the Boys 11-13 champion. Jones played very well throughout the weekend, shooting scores of 79 and 82 for a total of 161. Will worked very hard this weekend, and his scores certainly show it.
Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18
Kennedy Noe of Knoxville, TN is the Girls 14-18 champion. Noe had an 85 on Saturday and followed that up with a 82 on Sunday for a two-day total of 167. Finishing in 2nd from Gallatin,TN was Ali McCarthy who posted rounds of 83 and 89 to finish with a total of 172. Peyton Schaffer of Lexington, KY and Ainsley Simms of Maryville, TN ended up tying for 3rd place with 2-day total of 176. The ladies each enjoyed their experience, with some intense competition down the stretch.
