Jacksonville Summer Junior Open

From June 12-13, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Jacksonville Summer Junior Open. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole format with a field of five divisions that included the Boys 16-18 Division, Boys 14-15 Division, Boys 11-13 Division, Girls 14-18 Division, and Girls Under 13 Division.

Boys 16-18

Jacksonville Summer Junior Open

Lee Poppell from Tallahassee, FL was the first-place finisher this weekend. Poppell brought in scores of 76 and 68 for a combined total of 144 for the weekend. Landon Durham from Savannah, GA was the runner up for the weekend with scores of 79 and 73 for a combined total of 152. Dylan Kochis from Exton, PA finished the top three honors with scores of 81 and 74 for a weekend total of 155.

Tyler Taber from Mt Pleasant, SC was the first-place finisher this weekend. Taber brought in scores of 78 and 73 for a combined total of 151 for the weekend. Aidan Jones from Jesup, GA and Dallas Torres from Oviedo, FL tied for runner up this weekend. Jones brought in scores of 85 and 76 and Torres brought in scores of 79 and 82 for a combined total of 161.

Jaspreet Kondal from St. Augustine, FL took home the first-place honors for the weekend after winning in a playoff. Kondal brought in scores of 77 and 85 for a weekend total of 162. Orlando Torres from Ovideo, FL was the runner up for the weekend. Torres brought in scores of 80 and 82 for a combined total of 162 for the weekend. Jake Mason from Ponte Vedra Beach, FL finished the top three honors with scores of 90 and 87 for a weekend total of 177.

Kenzie Heba from St. Augustine, FL was the first-place finisher for the weekend after winning in a playoff. Heba brought in scores of 74 and 76 for a weekend total of 150.  Arlynn Spence from Lakeland, FL brought in consistent scores of 75 for a combined total of 150 for the weekend. Lizzie Anderson from Lockport, IL finished the top three honors with scores of 81 and 73 for a weekend total of 154.

Sahana Chokshi from Ponte Vedra, FL finished the top three honors with scores of 87 and 84 for a weekend total of 171.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
