Illinois Junior Open

From July 11-12, 2020, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Illinois Junior Open. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole format with a field of five divisions that included the Tiger Woods Division Boys 16-18, Will Smith Division Boys 14-15, Bryson DeChambeau Division Boys Under 10,  Justin Timberlake Division Girls 14-18, and Justin Rose Division Girls Under 13.

Nate Spear from Burlington, IA was the first-place finisher this weekend. Spear brought in scores of 73 and 75 for a combined total of 148 for the weekend. TJ Floberg from San Antonio, FL was the runner up for the weekend with scores of 73 and 81 for a combined total of 154. Owen Naughten from Barrington, IL and Dylan Josephson from Vemon Hills, IL both finished the top three honors. Naughten finished with scores of 78 and 78 for a weekend total of 156. Josephson finished with scores of 76 and 80 for a weekend total of 156.

Gavin Newkirk from Batavia, IL was the first-place finisher this weekend. Newkirk brought in scores of 79 and 78 for a combined total of 157 for the weekend. Alex Finger from Highland Park, IL was the runner up for the weekend with scores of 79 and 79 for a combined total of 158. Hugo Hourihane from Winnetka, IL finished the top three honors with scores of 82 and 79 for a weekend total of 161.

Chelsea She from Buffalo, IL and Olivia Siebert from Glencoe, IL were the runner ups for the weekend. She had scores of 75 and 77 for a combined total of 152. Siebert finished with scores of 81 and 85 for a weekend total of 166.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
