From Saturday July 13ththrough Sunday July 14th, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Illinois Junior Open. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole format with a field of six divisions that included the Tiger Woods Division Boys 16-18, Will Smith Division Boys 14-15, Ernie Els Division Boys 11-13, Bryson DeChambeau boys 10 and Under, Justin Timberlake Division Girls 14-18, and the Justin Rose Division Girls 13 and Under.
Pongbhop Jamornsrianan of Thailand took the lead after scoring a 74 on Saturday. Jamornsrianan climbed to the top of the leaderboard on Sunday, with rounds of 74 and 75
to win by a margin of 4 strokes. Rohan Vasudeva of Vernon Hills, IL finished in second place with rounds of 76 and 77 to claim individual runner-up honors with a total of 153 strokes. Rounding up the top-three was Colin Jasper of Lake Forest, IL with a total of 155 strokes and claim solo third-place honors.
Nate Spear Burlington, IA was able to seal his victory with rounds of 80 and 74 over the weekend, making an eagle on 17 the last day at a two-day total of 154 strokes. Cale Leonard of Ottumwa, IA claimed runner-up honors with a weekend day total of 163 shots and consistent weekend rounds. Rounding up the top three was Connor Caparos of Northbrook, IL with a weekend total of 164 strokes for third place honors.
Juba Doliwa Park Ridge, IL was able to seal his victory with a final round of 83 and a weekend total of 163 strokes. Doliwa made 3 birdies over the weekend to win by an impressive margin over his closest competitor. Fletcher Dasso of Brentwood, TN shot a total of 191 shots and claimed solo runner-up honors
Nilubol Panno of Thailand claimed first place honors after shooting a last round 78 to win by a margin of 5 strokes over her closest competitor. Panno shot a total of 152 strokes for the weekend to win. Apichaya Chirakunakorn of Thailand shot a total of 157 strokes to claim solo runner-up honors. Rounding up the top three was Caroline Gray with a total of 166 shots to claim solo third-place honors.
Victoria Cui of Lake Forest, IL was our lone competitor for the division, finishing with a weekend total of 198 strokes to claim victory honors.
Boys 10 Under
Brycen Tisch of Zionsville, IN was able to seal his victory with a final round of 77 and a weekend total of 159 strokes. Tisch made a birdie over the weekend to win by a 9-stroke margin over his closest competitor. William Cui of Lake Forest, IL shot a total of 168 shots and claimed solo runner-up honors. Rounding up the top-three was Jack Bell of Palatine, IL with a weekend total of 193 strokes and claim solo third-place honors.
