From Saturday, March 16 – Sunday, March 17, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Hilton Head Junior Open at the County Club of Hilton Head in Hilton Head Island, SC. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole, two-day format and the field was made from six divisions that included the Tiger Woods Division Boys 16-18, Will Smith Division Boys 14-15, Ernie Els Division Boys 11-13, Bryson DeChambeau Division Boys Under 10, Justin Timberlake Division Girls 14-18, and the Justin Rose Division Girls 13 and Under.
By shooting a 73 the first day and 71 the second day, Nic Whittaker of Lansing, NY earned the top spot in the Tiger Woods Division. Five strokes behind him there was a two-way tie for second. Kevin Smith of Wallingford, PA and Aj Gilpin of Hilton Head Island, SC both finished with 150 strokes.
It was a tight race in the Will Smith Division, but Zach Boorom of Jackson, MI won first place with 161 strokes. Thomas Ford of Hilton Head Island, SC finished just one stroke shy of first place. Yi Dong Wang of Foshan, China rounded out the podium with 165 strokes.
Andrew Messalle of Savannah, GA won first place in the Ernie Els Division with 151 strokes. Dallas Johnson of Mount Pleasant, SC won second place, just one stroke behind Messalle. Cole Shingleton of Winchester, VA captured the last spot on the podium with 156 strokes.
Lucia Pantigozo of Lima, Peru was the champion of the Justin Timberlake Division, as she finished out the weekend with a grand total of 158 strokes. Fabienne Van Kleef of Hilton Head Island, SC earned the second-place spot with 164 strokes. Just one stroke behind Kleef, there was a two-way tie for third. Hannah Conroy of Cheswick, PA and Jessica Shao of North Myrtle Beach, SC both finished with 165 strokes.
Mary Miller of Savannah, GA captured the first-place finish in the Justin Rose Division with a 2-day total of 148 strokes. Staci Pla of West Palm Beach, FL earned the second-place spot, with 163 strokes. Just two strokes behind her was third-place finisher Honorine Nobuta Ferry of Pinehurst, NC.
Boys 10 Under
In the Bryson DeChambeau Division, Jacob Holzer of Louisville, KY finished with 157 strokes this past weekend, causing him to capture the first-place title. Ethan Ranney of Wellington, FL earned second, finishing with 177 strokes. Rounding out the division was Beau Allen of West Palm Beach, FL with 197 strokes.
