On Thursday, September 7, 2017, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour traveled to Irvine, CA to host the Henry Brunton Jr. Golf Academy Open at the very tough Strawberry Farms Golf Club. The players competed hard all weekend long in beautiful golfing weather. The HJGT would like to thank the amazing staff at the Strawberry Farms Golf Club for their hospitality and ensuring excellent great conditions for the field of play.

Tiger Woods Boys 16-18

Henry Brunton Junior Golf academy Open at Strawberry Farms Golf Club

Schuyler Peterson of Huntington Beach, Ca is the Boys 16-18 champion. Peterson won his division with an improving score of 81 on Saturday and a 74 on Sunday for a two-day total of 155. Yusuke Takeda of San Clemente, CA finished in 2nd with a two-day total of 158 (77-81). 3rd place was taken by Tanner Brodsky of Agoura Hills, CA with a two-day total of 159. All the players had a great time competing against each other on a beautiful course.

Will Smith Boys 14-15

Henry Brunton Junior Golf academy Open at Strawberry Farms Golf Club

DJ Verdugo of La Habra, CA is the champion of the Boys 14-15 division. DJ  posted a first round score of 83 and a score of 84 on day two for a two-day total of 167. Desi Landin of La Habra, CA came in 2nd after finishing with a two-day total of 171 (91-80). These two battled head-to-head throughout the entire tournament, which created an exciting finish.

Henry Brunton Junior Golf academy Open at Strawberry Farms Golf Club

Carson Adams of Mission Viejo, CA is the Boys 11-13 champion. After a 70 on Saturday, Gavin finished with a 77 on Sunday for a two-day total of 147. Luke Powell of Laguna Niguel, CA finished 2nd with a two-day total of 150 (75-75). 3rd place was taken by Tyler Stock of Mission Viejo, CA with a two-day total of 152. Everyone in this age group showed vast improvements as the tournament progressed. It seemed as if each boy was approaching their zone of comfortability.

Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18

Henry Brunton Junior Golf academy Open at Strawberry Farms Golf Club

Kristine Tran of San Jose, CA is the Girls 14-18 champion. Tran had a 74 on Saturday and followed it up with a strong 71 on Sunday for a two-day total of 145. Finishing in 2nd from Hermosa Beach, CA was Klara Nagy who posted improved rounds of 82 and 75 with a total of 157. 3rd place was taken by Scarlet Weidig of San Antonio de Belen, HE. This age group pushed each other with their amazing putts as well as shot placements on each hole.

Justin Rose Girls U13

Henry Brunton Junior Golf academy Open at Strawberry Farms Golf Club

Nicole Chang is the Girls U13 champion. Chang of Coto de Caza, CA came out on top after scoring a two-day total of 161 (81-80). Chang finished +17 over par for the tournament.  She showed improvements as the tournament progressed over the two day weekend.

Boys 10 Under

Henry Brunton Junior Golf academy Open at Strawberry Farms Golf Club

Carter Gaede of Manhattan Beach, LA took home the first-place trophy for the Boys U10 division. Gaede shot a score of 79 on Saturday and finished by cutting down his strokes by 2 on Sunday (77). For the two day weekend he shot 156. Gaede played very hard throughout the tournament.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
