From Saturday, May 18 – Sunday, May 19, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Hartford Junior Open at Hop Meadow Country Club in Simsbury, CT. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole, two-day format and the field was made from all six divisions that included the Tiger Woods Division Boys 16-18, Will Smith Division Boys 14-15, Ernie Els Division Boys 11-13, Bryson DeChambeau Boys 10 and Under, Justin Timberlake Division Girls 14-18, and the Justin Rose Division Girls 13 and Under.

Boys 16-18

Hartford Junior Open

David Luo of Centreville, VA took home first place in the Tiger Woods Boys 16-18 Division. David took a commanding lead after the first-round of action scoring 73 and held on to his lead with a strong score of 75 in round two. Following closely behind Sean Dowd scored a two-day total of 152. Finishing third, Max Orwicz went 155 on the weekend.

Boys 14-15

Hartford Junior Open

John Guerrera of Farmington, CT completed the first round with a single stroke lead. John staved off his competitors with a strong second round and finished the two-day event with a score of 153. Not far behind, Elias Kennon shot a 77 on day two which solidified a second-place finish. In third, Alex Moller finished the weekend at 160.

Angad Manaise of Stamford, CT had a consistent weekend scoring a 78 on both Saturday and Sunday. With a two-day score of 156 Angad took home the trophy in the Ernie Els Boys 11-13 Division. Chad Ruggiero finished the weekend strong and completed a 79 in round two action earning him a second-place finish. Finishing one stroke behind Chad in third place, Colin Firda finished Sunday with a two-day total of 161.

Girls 14-18

Hartford Junior Open

Jacqueline Lu of Scarsdale, NY took home the trophy in a competitive Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18 Division. She finished the day-two with am impressive 78 and had a weekend total of 162. Only one stroke behind, Jordan Hamelsky had a two-day score of 162 giving her a second-place finish. In third, Mia Scarpati went90-81 in rounds one and two with a total two-day score of 171.

Hartford Junior Open

Kennedy Swedick of Altamont, NY jumped into first place after round one scoring an 80 .She held off the competition completing round two with a 78 and a weekend total of 158. Victoria Guerrero took home second place with a two-day total of 171. Finishing third, Alexandra Phung had a weekend total of 181.

Nicky Jadav of Latham, NY finished round two with a strong score of 89 and completed the weekend with a 183. John Lahtinen finished the weekend in second after having a two day total of 239.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intention of providing junior golfers between the ages of 8-18 an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. The tour’s vision is to provide superb hospitality and make every event a memorable one. With play open to both males and females, nearly every junior golfer is eligible to participate on the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour. Currently the HJGT is the largest multi-day junior golf tour in the United States hosting more 2-day nationally ranked events than any other tour. The HJGT has been able to achieve this goal by running the most professional events and providing an exceptional value to all of our players and families over the last 14 years.

Based out of Orlando, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the country. In 2021, the HJGT will conduct events in Alabama, Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and Canada. Juniors will compete in 1 of 6 divisions which are: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys under 10, Girls 14-18, and Girls Under 13. Click here to view approximate yardages for each division.
