On Saturday June 16 – Sunday Jun 17, 2018 The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Greg Norman Golf Academy Junior Open at Barefoot Resort & Golf Club in North Myrtle Beach, SC. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole, two-day format and the field was made from dix divisions that included the Tiger Woods Division Boys 16-18, Will Smith Division Boys 14-15, Ernie Els Division Boys 11-13, Justin Timberlake Division Girls 14-18, Justin Rose Girls U13 Division, and the Boys U10 Division.

Tiger Woods Boys 16-18

Greg Norman Golf Academy Jr. Open

Victor Vargas of Aguascalientes, Mx captured the title in the Tiger Woods Boys 16-18 division after a two day total of 152. He had 5 birdies and broke even on day 2 (72). Nick Fleming of Cabins, WV finished with 152 total as well, but fell just short in a playoff. 3 strokes behind was Cole Hanson of Grand Forks, despite an impressive +1 final round (73).

Will Smith Boys 14-15

Greg Norman Golf Academy Jr. Open

In the Will Smith Boys 14-15 division, Julio Alfredo Rios Brache from Santo Domingo took home the title by an impressive 12 strokes. Brache shot a 75 and 73 for a total of 148 (+4). He led in most birdies with 5 on the weekend. Second place finisher Agustin Montero from Santiago shot a 78 and 82 for a 160 total. Coming in a narrow third was Alejandro Morales of Garza Garcia, who shot 161 over both days.

Ernie Els 11-13

William Jennings of Greenville, SC won the weekend for the Ernie Els Boys 11-13 division with a combined total of 145. An impressive 71 stroke finish on day 2 and 6 birdies would seal the deal for Jennings. Second place finishers Logan Lutz from Mount Pleasant and Eduardo Derbez from Monterrey tied at 153 after both rounds. Derbez had 5 birdies on the weekend.

Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18

Susana Olivraes of Myrtle Beach, SC was the champion of the Justin Timberlake Division. After 36 holes, Olivraes shot a consistent 150 overall (75, 75), shooting 4 birdies overall and +3 in both rounds. Coming in second was Jessica Shao (154) and Lextyn Petz (161) finished third (147). Petz led in birdies (5).

In the Justin Rose Girls U13 division, Kirstyn Page from King, NC took the title. Ending at 174 total, Brown earned her second first place finish of the 2018 season. She had 2 birdies on the weekend and a 3.4 par 3 average.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
