Grandover Junior Open

From Saturday, February 23 - Sunday, February 24, 2019, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Grandover Junior Open at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro, NC. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole, two-day format, but due to inclement weather conditions, the tournament was only held on Sunday with 18 holes. The field was made up of six divisions that included the Tiger Woods Boys 16-18, Will Smith Boys 14-15, Ernie Els Boys 11-13, Bryson DeChambeau Boys 10 and Under, Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18, and the Justin Rose Girls 13 and Under Division. Tiger Woods Boys 16-18

Grandover Junior Open

The Tiger Woods Boys 16-18 Division started things off with a bang. Evan Bone of Louisville, KY shot a 74 on Sunday, earning the top spot on the podium. Behind him was Garnet Manley III of Lynchburg, VA who shot a 79. One stroke off second place was Aiden Spampinato of Victor, NY who shot an 80.

Will Smith Boys 14-15

Grandover Junior Open

The Will Smith Boys 14-15 Division was dominated by the Carolinas. In first place was Keenan Royalty of Raleigh, NC who shot a solid 81. Second place belonged to Colby McCaskill of Fort Mill, SC who shot an 85. One stroke behind him was Steven Shea of Charlotte, NC who shot an 86.

Ernie Els 11-13

Grandover Junior Open

The Ernie Els Boys 11-13 Division was taken over by the state of Virginia. First place with a +9 was Cole Shingleton of Winchester, VA. Not too far behind him was Benjamin Baker of Broadlands, VA who shot an 87. Coming in third for the division was Richard Hearp of Salem, VA who shot a 93.

Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18

Grandover Junior Open

The Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18 Division was a hard-fought battle for the girls, and Avery Wright of North Canton, OH came out on top. Avery shot a +3 on Sunday to secure the best spot in her division. Two strokes behind her was Lotte Fox of Raleigh, NC who shot a 77 during her time on the course. Rounding out the division was Katelyn David of Waxhaw, NC who finished Sunday with a total of 82 strokes.

Justin Rose Girls U13

Grandover Junior Open

The Justin Rose Girls U13 Division really put in some hard work this weekend, and Helen Yeung of Clarksville, MD took the top spot on the podium. Helen shot an incredible +2 for a total of 74 strokes. Behind her was Karsyn Roberts of Pikeville, NC who shot an 82. In third place for the division was Ella June Hannant, also of Pikeville, NC who shot a 91.

Boys 10 Under

Grandover Junior Open

The Bryson DeChambeau Boys U10 Division could only be won by one junior golfer, Leon Bui. Leon is from New York, NY and shot a 93 on Sunday to capture his first place trophy in the division.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
