On Friday, September 15, 2017, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour traveled to Fayetteville, GA to host the Fenton Cup at the beautiful Whitewater Creek Country Club. The players played through beautiful, warm weather which put some red scores on the board. The HJGT would like to thank the amazing staff of the Whitewater Creek CC for their amazing hospitality and making sure that everything was in excellent conditions for the field of play.
Tiger Woods Boys 16-18
Jackson Shultz of McDonough, GA is the Boys 16-18 champion. Shultz solidified the victory in his division carding a 73 Saturday and 69 Sunday for a 2-day total of 142 (-2). Jacob Calamaro of Duluth, GA finished in 2nd with a 2-day total of 148 (+4). Rece Moore from Dallas, GA carded a 2-day total of 149 (+5) to secure 3rd place. The players had a great time competing against some of the best junior golfers in the country.
Will Smith Boys 14-15
Jason Cruise Jr of Bonaire, GA is the champion of the Boys 14-15 division. A strong final round was key for Cruise as he posted a round of 76 on Saturday and a 72 on Sunday for a 2day total of 148 (+4) to claim the title. Jackson Buchanan of Dacula, GA came in a close 2nd after finishing with a 2-day total of 151 (+7). 3rd place was split between Kevin Park of Johns Creek, GA and Riley Grant of Rock Spring, GA who both carded a 2-day total of 152 (+8). This division had great competition and each player can walk away proud of their effort.
Ernie Els 11-13
Billy Abdow of Duluth, GA is the Boys 11-13 champion. After a low opening round of 67, Abdow carded a 74 on Sunday to secure 1st place with a 2-day total of 141 (-3). Brennan Cozad of Alpharetta, GA carded a 2-day total of 157 (+13) to place 2nd. And in 3rd place, Aiden Cohl of Lawrenceville, GA carded a 2day total of 162 (+18). The boys had a fun time navigating through the course and showed maturity beyond their years in assaulting its many challenges.
Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18
Ahra Ko, the champion of the Girls 14-18 division, came in with a low 2-day score of 149 (+5). With an opening round of 79, Ko came back with a solid 70 on Sunday to secure her victory. Just 2 strokes off the lead, Charli York of Johns Creek, GA shot a 2-day total of 151 (+7) coming in 2nd place. And in 3rd place, Sophia Kalusche of Rome, GA carded a 2-day total of 153 (+9). The ladies each enjoyed their experience, with some intense competition down the stretch.
