From Saturday, March 30 – Sunday, March 31, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Elite Series at Red Tail at Redtail Golf Club in Sorrento, FL. The Elite Series was created to mimic the setup of college golf. This tournament was made up of a 36-hole, two-day format and the field was made up of two divisions, a Boys Open Division and a Girls Open Division.
Tristan Galant of Cape Town, South Africa earned his spot as champion of the Boys Open Division, as he finished out the weekend with 71 and 73 strokes respectively. Just one stroke shy of first was Max Hutter of Weston, MA, with 145 strokes. Demi Di Matteo of Chattanooga, TN earned third place with 147 strokes. Just one stroke behind Di Matteo was a two-way tie for fourth. Alexandre Liu of Longpont-sur-Orge, France and Jay Sachdev of Panchkula, India both finished with a two-day total of 148 strokes.
There was another competitive race over the weekend in the Girls Open Division. Suwarin Yordin of Florida ended up on top with a grand total 147 strokes. She stayed consistent over the weekend, as she finished with 74 strokes on Saturday and 73 strokes on Sunday. Sophia Tejeda of Mexico earned second, just two strokes behind Yordin. There was a two-way tie for third, as Alexis Rieli of Apopka, FL and Maria Fedorowycz of Ukraine both finished out the weekend with 152 strokes. Rounding out the top five was Savannah Weyrauch of Bloomington, IL with 153 strokes.
