From Saturday, May 11 – Sunday, May 12, the Hurricane Junio rGolf Tour held the Elite Series at Champions Gate at Champions Gate Golf Resort– International Course in Champions Gate, FL. The Elite Series was created to mimic the setup of college golf. This tournament was made up of a 36-hole,two-day format and the field was made up of two divisions, a Boys Open Division and a Girls Open Division.

Matthew Hicks of Delray, FL came away victorious in the Boys Open Division this weekend at Champions Gate Resort. After rounds of 70-78, Matthew needed extra holes to capture the prize. He battled it out with Simone Colozza of Miami, FL who fell short in the playoff after firing rounds of 76-72. Katari Murata of Bluffton, SC took home 3rd place with scores of 76-73. Shuya Hagiwara fired consistent rounds of 75 both days to take home 4th place and Joo Kim took him 5th place with a two-day total of 152.

Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18

Yue Zhang of Orlando, FL was crowned the champion in the Girls Open Division after rounds of 76-73= 149. She edged out Vasundhara Thiara who took 2nd after shooting rounds of 82-74 and One Kashima who took 3rd after rounds of 82-81. Loa Johannsson took home solo 4th place with a two-day total of 168 and Sarah Muller rounded out the top 5 with a combined score of 170 for the tournament.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
