From Saturday, March 9 – Sunday, March 10, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Elite Series at Bear Creek at Bear Creek Golf Club in Hilton Head Island, SC. The Elite Series was created to mimic the setup of college golf. This tournament was made up of a 36-hole, two-day format and the field was made up of two divisions, a Boys Open Division and a Girls Open Division.
The Boys Open Division did not disappoint, and the leader of the pack Daniel Song proved why he deserved the top spot, by shooting a two-day total of 146 strokes. Just three strokes behind him was Ty Sullivan of Toronto, Canada and Kotaro Murata of Matsuyama, Japan, who tied for second. Tiaan Mattiace of Jacksonville, FL rounded out the division just two strokes shy of the second-place finishers, with a two-day total of 151 strokes.
The Girls Open Division was a fight until the very end, and it left us with four stellar athletes on the podium. Tied for first place was Alexis Sudjianto of Charlotte, NC and Hannah Conroy of Cheswick, PA. Both Sudjianto and Conroy had great displays of play shown this weekend, and it showed with two-day totals of 159. After a playoff hole was played, Alexis Sudjianto came out victorious. Third place went to Emma Kim of Jung-gu, Japan, with a two-day total of 166 strokes. Sophia Tejada of Mexico earned the fourth place spot with 167 strokes.
