From Saturday July 27th through Sunday July 28th, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Disney Summer Junior Open. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole format with a field of six divisions that included the Tiger Woods Division Boys 16-18, Will Smith Division Boys 14-15, Ernie Els Division Boys 11-13, Bryson DeChambeau boys 10 and Under, Justin Timberlake Division Girls 14-18 and Justin Rose Girl 13 and Under division.

Eric Zielasko of Germany was able to take home first place honors after a final round 72. Zielasko had a total of 144 strokes for the weekend to win by a one-shot margin over his closest competitor. Laurenz Ruf of Germany had a final round 75 on Sunday to finish at a total of 145 strokes and claim solo runner-up honors. Rounding up the top-three was Michale Son of Windermere, FL with a weekend total of 146 strokes to claim third-place honors.

Will Smith Boys 14-15

Disney Summer Junior Open

Zephyr Zhong of China was able to seal his victory with rounds of 73 and 76, making 4 birdies on Sunday to finish at a two-day total of 149 strokes. Chun Shing Pan of China claimed runner-up honors with a total of 154 shots for the weekend and a final round 77. Rounding up the top three were Javier Doble from Puerto Rico and Andrew Yang of Chino Hills, CA with weekend totals of 164 strokes for third place honors.

Disney Summer Junior Open

Chenqi Wu of Bradenton, FL was able to seal his victory with a final round of 72 and a total of 142 strokes.Wu made 7 birdies over the weekend to win by an impressive margin over his closest competitor. Davis Downing of Windermere, FL shot a total of 156 strokes with consistent weekend rounds to claim solo runner-up honors for the division. Rounding up the top-three was Yiduo Mi of China with a weekend total of 158 shots to take third place honors.

Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18

Disney Summer Junior Open

Madyson Gold of Miramar, FL claimed first place honors after shooting rounds of 71 and 74 to win by a seven-shot margin over her closest competitor. Gold shot a total of 145 strokes, making 5 birdies and an eagle over the weekend to win. Anna Maria Barriga of Colombia had a weekend total of 152 shots to claim solo runner-up honors, making 3 birdies the last day. Rounding up the division was Sarah Scott of Oviedo, FL with a weekend total of 154 strokes to claim third-place honors.

Zoe Pinillos of Peru claimed first place honors after shooting rounds of 74 both days to win by seven-shot margin over her closest competitor. Pinillos had a weekend total of 148 strokes with 5 birdies the last day to win. Melinda Wang of Orlando, FL had a total of 155 strokes to claim solo runner-up honors for the weekend. Rounding up the top three were Gabriella Albert of Delray Beach, FL and Sammy Chao of Orlando, FL with weekend totals of 156 shots to claim tie third-place honors.

Nicklaus Downing of Winter Garden, FL was able to take the win with a final round 76 and a 159 total for the weekend. Downing made 2 birdies on Sunday to win by a two-shot margin over his closest competitor. Following him was Giancarlo Aguirre of Peru with a weekend total of 161 strokes, and a final round 81 to claim runner-up honors. Rounding up the top-three was Arnold Pouncy IV of St. Cloud, FL with a weekend total of 165 shots to claim third place honors.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
