Copperhead Junior Open

From July 14-15, 2021, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Copperhead Junior Open. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole format with a field of five divisions that included the Boys 16-18 Division, Boys 14-15 Division, Boys 11-13, Girls 14-18 Division, and Girls Under 13 Division.

Copperhead Junior Open

Declan Reynolds from St. Petersburg, FL was the first-place finisher this weekend. Reynolds brought in scores of 74 and 75 for a combined total of 149 (+7) for the weekend. Suraj Kollegal from Tampa, FL was the runner up for the weekend with scores of 76 and 75 for a combined total of 151 (+9). Iain Murphy-Herndon from Palm Harbor, FL finished the top three honors with scores of 75 and 77 for a weekend total of 152 (+10).

Blake Cornell from Daphne, AL was the first-place finisher this weekend. Cornell brought in scores of 77 and 76 for a combined total of 153 (+11) for the weekend. Adam “AJ” Hovermale Jr. from Lakewood Ranch, FL was the runner up for the weekend with scores of 77 and 83 for a combined total of 160 (+18). Will Browning from Orlando, FL finished the top three honors with scores of 83 and 79 for a weekend total of 162 (+20).

Conor Whalen from Trinity, FL was the first-place finisher this weekend. Whalen brought in scores of 78 and 78 for a combined total of 156 (+14) for the weekend. Grant McCall from Bradenton, FL was the runner up for the weekend with scores of 81 and 77 for a combined total of 158 (+16). Avery Liu from Windermere, FL finished the top three honors with scores of 83 and 78 for a weekend total of 161 (+19).

Elyse Meerdink from Tampa, FL was the first-place finisher this weekend. Meerdink brought in scores of 74 and 74 for a combined total of 148 (+6) for the weekend. Patricia Patterson from Tallahassee, FL and Andrea Woods from Riverview, FL tied for second place with a score of 151 (+9). Patterson brought in scores of 73 and 78, while Woods tallied round scores of 78 and 73.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
