From Saturday July 13ththrough Sunday July 14th, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Mohegan Sun Jr. Open. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole format with a field of three divisions that included the Tiger Woods Division Boys 16-18, Will Smith Division Boys 14-15, and Justin Timberlake Division Girls 14-18.
Tyler Birdd of Elma, NY claimed victory honors with a weekend total of 147 shots. Birdd was able to win by a two shot margin over his closest competitor with 6 birdies and an eagle over the weekend. Following him was Owen Malcolm of Atlanta, GA with a weekend total of 149 strokes and claim solo runner-up honors. Rounding up the top-three was Scott Jordan of Pittsburg, PA with a weekend total of 151 strokes.
Jared Wells of Hilliard, OH was our lone competitor for the weekend. Wells shot a total of 169 strokes with consistent rounds both days to claim victory honors for the tournament.
Natalie Brosig Erie, PA claimed first place honors after shooting a final round 76 to win by a margin of 3 strokes over her closest competitor. Brosig shot a total of 149 strokes and made 2 birdies over the weekend to win. Alyssa Newsom of Granville, OH shot a total of 152 strokes to claim solo runner-up honors. Rounding up the top three was Sandy Deng of Solon, OH with a total of 161 shots to claim solo third-place honors.
