On Saturday, June 2 and Sunday, June 3, 2018, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour hosted the College Prep Series at UVA in Charlottesville, Virginia. The two-day, 36-hole tournament that took place at the Birdwood Golf Course had a player field consisting of six divisions including the Tiger Woods Boys 16-18 Division, Will Smith Boys 14-15 Division, Ernie Els Boys 11-13 Division, Boys U10 Division, Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18 Division, and the Justin Rose Girls U13 Division.

Tiger Woods Boys 16-18

College Prep Series at UVA

Reece Massei of Warrenton, Virginia captured the title in the Tiger Woods Boys 16-18 Division after finishing with a total of 148 strokes (+4). He led the playing field with the lowest scoring average of 74. Second-place finisher was Noah Siman of Rockville, Maryland who shot 151 (+7). Kyle Balow of Gaithersburg, Maryland finished third with a total of 154 strokes (+10) and made the most birdies (5).

Will Smith Boys 14-15

College Prep Series at UVA

The Will Smith Boys 14-15 Division was won by David Luo of Centreville, Virginia after shooting 145 strokes for a weekend finish of one over par (+1). He led the playing field with the lowest scoring average of 72.5 and made 4 birdies. Trey Cox of Bethesda, Maryland finished second with a weekend total of 151 (+7). Third-place finisher was Mehrbaan Singh of Ashburn, Virginia who finished right behind Cox at 152 (+8). Both Luo and Singh played their best in round 2 (-1) and broke even. 

Ernie Els 11-13

College Prep Series at UVA

Peter Nusbaum of Pittsboro, North Carolina won the Ernie Els Boys 11-13 Division with a total of 160 strokes (+16). He made 3 birdies in the two-day tournament and shot the lowest scoring average (80) in his playing field. Second-place finisher was JB Vito from Bethesda, Maryland who shot 163 (+19) and made 5 birdies, the most in the playing field. Nate Gravender from Charlotte, North Carolina finished third with 181 strokes (+37). 

Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18

College Prep Series at UVA

The Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18 Division was won by Allie LeeHoffman of McLean, Virginia who shot a total 162 strokes (+18). She led the playing field with the lowest scoring average (81) and most birdies (3). Madeline Simcox of Bristol, Tennessee finished second with 183 strokes (+39) and a scoring average of 91.5. Third-place finisher was Emma Landis from Virginia Beach, Virginia shot 92 in both rounds for a total of 184 (+40). 

Justin Rose Girls U13

College Prep Series at UVA

Gianna Clemente of Warren, Ohio, won the Justin Rose Girls U13 Division with 157 strokes (+13) through 36-holes. She led the playing field with the lowest scoring average (78.5) and made the most birdies (3). Second-place finisher was Victoria Matthews from Great Falls, Virginia who shot a total of 164 (+20). Tatum Thompson of Powder Springs, Georgia finished third with a total of 189 strokes (+45) and made one birdie.

Boys 10 Under

College Prep Series at UVA

There was a tie for first in the Boys U10 Division after a competitive weekend of golf. Jason Park and Liam Foster both shot a total of 168 strokes (+24) through 36 holes. Park, from Fulton, Maryland, shot 84 in both rounds of the tournament and made 3 birdies. Foster, a Charlottesville native, shot 85 in round 1, but played his best in round 2 by shooting 83.

In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
