College Prep Series at St. Leo

On Saturday May 19 – Sunday May 20, 2018 The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the College Prep Series at St. Leo University in St. Leo, Florida. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole, two-day format and the field was made from five divisions that included the Tiger Woods Division Boys 16-18, Will Smith Division Boys 14-15, Ernie Els Division Boys 11-13, Justin Timberlake Division Girls 14-18 and the Justin Rose Girls U13 Division.

Tiger Woods Boys 16-18

College Prep Series at St. Leo

Connor Murphy of Land O’ Lakes, FL captured the title in the Tiger Woods Boys 16-18 division with a two day total of 147. He led the field in lowest scoring average (73.5) and tied for second in longest birdie or better streak (2). He was able to keep the lead in the second round after shooting 72 (par) on day one, finishing 2 strokes below second place finishers Nigel Anderson and Jun Kim, who tied at 149 (+5).

Will Smith Boys 14-15

College Prep Series at St. Leo

In the Will Smith Boys 14-15 division, Alex Song from Ocoee, FL took home the victory after shooting 5 birdies and posting the lowest scoring average of the contest (72). Song was the only one in his division to average par on the back 9. Second place finisher and Ocoee native Bryan Park, despite a -2 finish in round one, narrowly missed the title by 1 stroke. Song Bai of Lakewood Ranch, FL finished third, shooting a two round total of 151 after breaking even on Sunday.

Ernie Els 11-13

College Prep Series at St. Leo

Tristin Perkins of Wesley Chapel, FL won the weekend for the Ernie Els Boys 11-13 division. He shot a combined 166 after posting an impressive +7 round on day one. This is his first championship title win for the 2018 season after tying for second at College Prep Series at USF in March.

Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18

College Prep Series at St. Leo

The Justin Timberlake Division came down to the wire with the top 3 finishing within one shot of each other. After 36 holes, Lisa Marie Rudometkin of Wesley Chapel, FL shot an impressive 75 on her final round (+3), improving 2 shots over her first round. Rudometkin's total of 152 allowed her to maintain the lead over Arlynn Spence and Mariana Mesones, who tied for second at 153. Mesones was second the contest in most birdies (5) and led the par 3 leaderboard with a 2.9 average.

Justin Rose Girls U13

College Prep Series at St. Leo

In the Justin Rose Girls U13 division, Staci Pla from West Palm Beach, FL took the title. Pla shot an impressive 156 total after a +7 finish in the final round. 2 birdies on the weekend gave Pla her 2nd consecutive and fourth 1st place finish this year.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
