From Saturday, June 8ththrough Sunday June 9th, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the College Prep Series at Penn State. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole format with a field of four divisions that included the Tiger Woods Division Boys 16-18, Will Smith Division Boys 14-15, Ernie Els Division Boys 11-13, and Justin Timberlake Division Girls 14-18.
Scott Bitar of Pittsburgh, PA took the first-round lead after scoring a 70 2-under and remain at the top of the leaderboard all weekend. Bitar shot a total of 142 strokes for the weekend and claim victory on Sunday with a final round of 72 even-par with birdies on holes 2, 6 and 9. Jake Maddaloni of Newtown Square, PA finished in second place with rounds of 70 and 74 for a two-day total of 144 shots and claim solo runner-up honors with a weekend at even-par. Rounding up the top-three was Devin Smith of Waynesboro, PA with a two-day total of 147 and a last round of 72 even-par to finish solo at third-place.
Rocco Salvitti of Canonsburg, PA claimed victory honors for the weekend. Salvitti shot rounds of 73 and 75 over the two-day tournament, with an eagle on 18 the last day to secure first-place honors. John Olsen of Boalsburg, PA finished runner-up with a two-day total of 152 shots with birdies on holes 13 and 18 and finish solo in second place. Rounding up the top-three was Carter Pitcairn of Pittsburgh, PA with a three-day total of 153 shots and a final round of 77 to claim solo third-place honors.
Maxwell Wager of State College, PA shot a two-day total of 157 strokes to claim first-place honors. Wager was able to win by a margin of 2 shots over his closest competitor with a first-round 77. Nicolas Turowski of Harrison City, PA shot a two-day total of 159 shots and finish the weekend with solo runner-up honors and a birdie on hole number 5 the last day. Rounding up the top-three was Isaak Bloom of Bellefonte, PA with a three day total of 168 shots to claim solo third-place honors.
Natasha Kiel of New Hope, PA claimed victory on Sunday with a two-day total of 147 shots and an impressive first round of 70 2-under. Kiel was able to win by a margin of 8 strokes and an eagle on hole 9 the first day. Following her was Madie Smithco of Cranberry, Township, PA closing her weekend at a total of 155 shots and claim solo runner-up honors with a birdie on hole 9 the first day. Rounding up the top three was Jade Gu of Yardley, PA with a two-day total of 156 shots for a solo third-place honor.
