From Saturday, May 25th through Monday, May 27th, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the College Prep Series at Kent State, in Windmill Lakes Golf Club, OH. The tournament was made up of a 54-hole format with a field of five divisions that included the Tiger Woods Division Boys 16-18, Will Smith Division Boys 14-15, Ernie Els Division Boys 11-13, Justin Timberlake Division Girls 14-18, and the Justin Rose Division Girls 13 and Under.
Charlie Fischer of Orchard Park, NY took the first-round lead after scoring a 73 and remaining at the top of the leaderboard all weekend. Fischer followed up his exceptional first-round score with rounds of 69 and 73 on Sunday and Monday respectively for a four-shot victory over Matthew McMullen of Galion, OH. McMullen finished in second place after shooting a three-round total of 219. And rounding up the top-three was Kyle Buazki of Stow, OH with a three-day total of 222.
Nolan Nicklas of Cranberry Twp, PA shot a three-day total of 242 to take an early lead on Saturday and remain in contention through Monday, winning with a three-stroke margin over his closest competitor. Closing out the week with a 79 on Monday, Keba was able to take home the hardware. Runner-up Kyle Salamon of Medina, OH shot a three-day total of 245 to take solo second-place honors.
Kai Carlson of Pittsburg, PA led the Ernie Els Boys Division with a 246 three-round total, shooting 78 the second day and lead through the rest of the week. Manaise closed out his three-day total with a final round 80. Following his lead, Nicholas Tozark of Northville, MI improved his scoring the last day to finish with a 257 three-round total and take runner-up honors.
Jami Morris of Chagrin Falls, OH shot a stellar three-day total of 216 to take home first-place honors with a four-shot margin over her closest competitor. Morris finished her week with a 75 on Monday to seal her victory. Following her was Jessica Hahn of Canton, OH with a three-day total of 220 and claim runner-up honors. Rounding up the top-three, Danae Rugola of Uniontown PA, shot an impressive 70 the final round for a 228 total and claim solo third-place honors.
Greta Gobezie of Chargin Falls, OH shot a 79 the last day to win with a three-day total of 232. With an impressive margin of only one shot, Gobezie was able to seal the victory and take home first-place honors. Following her was Isabella Goyette of Medina, OH with a three-day total of 233 and claim solo runner-up honors with a final round of 75.
