College Prep Series at Kent State

On Saturday October 27 – Sunday October 28, 2018 The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the College Prep Series at Kent State in Ravenna, OH. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole, two-day format and the field was made from five divisions that included the Tiger Woods Division Boys 16-18, Will Smith Division Boys 14-15, Ernie Els Division Boys 11-13, Bryson Dechambeau Division Boys U10, and the Justin Timberlake Division Girls 14-18.

Tiger Woods Boys 16-18

College Prep Series at Kent State

Ian Smith captured the first-place finish at the College Prep Series at Kent State in the Tiger Woods Boys 16-18 division with a 2-day total of 146 (72-74). With solid play both days, Smith was able to hold off Jaydan Morgan who placed in 2nd with a total of 149. Behind Morgan was Bee Bennett and Aaron Apticar who tied for third with a total of 150.

Will Smith Boys 14-15

College Prep Series at Kent State

In the Will Smith Boys 14-15 division, Andrew Martin took home first place this weekend by shooting a 2-day total of 155. Solid play in the second round allowed Martin to take victory over Michael Weber placing him in second with a 2-day total of 155. Rounding out the division was Ross Teeter with a two day total of 159.

Ernie Els 11-13

College Prep Series at Kent State

Cameron Phillips did not disappoint in the Ernie Els boys 11-13 division as he carded rounds of 77-77 to win in his division over David Fuhrer who carded rounds of 82-78 to claim 2nd place. Owen Mault shot a 2-day total of 182 (92-90) to take a solo 3rd place finish.

Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18

College Prep Series at Kent State

Alexis McMurray ended up with the first-place finish in the Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18 Division by carding a total of 154 (79-75).  With consistent rounds, McMurray was able to hold off 2nd place finisher Laine Hursh by 1 shot. Rounding out the division was Jody Pruitt who shot a 2-day total of 163 to claim 3rd place.

Boys 10 Under

College Prep Series at Kent State

Sushiman Tsai ended up with the first-place finish in the Bryson Dechambeau boys U10 division by carding a total of 170 (86-84). With consistent rounds, Tsai was able to hold off 2nd place finisher Alexander Eckstein by 7 shots. Rounding out the division was Lucas Gilbart who shot a 2-day total of 173 to claim 3rd place.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
