On Saturday, July 21 – Sunday, July 22, 2018, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour hosted the Cleveland Junior Open #2 in Hudson, Ohio. The two-day, thirty-six-hole tournament that took place at the Ellsworth Meadows Golf Course, consisted of players from three of our divisions including the Tiger Woods Boys 16-18 Division, Will Smith Boys 14-15 Division, and the Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18 Division.
James Fuhrer of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania secured the first-place trophy in the Tiger Woods Boys 16-18 Division after completing the tournament at +6. He led his playing field with the lowest Par-3 average (3.2) and the lowest scoring average (74). Second-place finisher was Aaron Apitcar of Canal Fulton, Ohio who made 151 strokes for a +9 finish through the thirty-six holes. As for third-place, there was a two-way tie between Teague Urban (Gibsonia, PA) and Jay Magyari (Sagamore Hills) who both finished the tournament at +11.
In the Will Smith Boys 14-15 Division, Josh Wright of Fairlawn, Ohio was victorious after completing the two-day tournament at +13. He made 3 birdies and led his playing field with the lowest scoring average 77.5. Joseph Farrell Jr. of Oakmont, PA, placed second as his 161 strokes resulted in a +19 finish. Third-place finisher was Dan Page of Munroe Falls who made 163 strokes to finish the tournament at +21.
The champion in the Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18 Division was Cara Heisterkamp of Westlake as she made 159 strokes to finish at +17. She led her playing field with the lowest Par-3 average (3.1), the longest birdie or better streak (2), and the lowest scoring average (79.5). For second-place, there was a two-way tie as Madison Ardelean (North Canton, OH) and Jami Morris (Orange Village, OH) both made 160 strokes to result in their +18 finish. Heisterkamp and Morris each made 4 birdies, tying for the most birdies in their division.
