Chicago Summer Junior Open #2

On Saturday, July 14 – Sunday, July 15, 2018, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour hosted the Chicago Summer Junior Open #2 in Vernon Hills, Illinois. The two-day, thirty-six-hole tournament held at White Deer Run consisted of players from all six of our divisions, including the Tiger Woods Boys 16-18 Division, Will Smith Boys 14-15 Division, Ernie Els Boys 11-13 Division, Bryson DeChambeau Boys U10 Division, Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18 Division, and the Justin Rose Girls U13 Division.

Tiger Woods Boys 16-18

Chicago Summer Junior Open #2

Vernon Hills native, Mark Noonan, captured the victory in the Tiger Woods Boys 16-18 Division after his +9 completion of the thirty-six holes. He led his playing field with the longest birdie or better streak (2) and the lowest scoring average (76.5). Second-place finisher was Anthony King of Hinsdale, Illinois who made 155 strokes for a +11 finish. Brian Favia of Mundelein placed third as a result of his 157 strokes for a +13 finish.

Will Smith Boys 14-15

Chicago Summer Junior Open #2

In the Will Smith Boys 14-15 Division, Jack Roemer of Bettendorf, Iowa came out on top in a playoff against Clint Bailes as they both finished at +13 through the thirty-six holes. Bailes, of Lake Forest, finished in second-place, as a result. Both Roemer and Bailes led their playing field each with the most birdies (3) and the lowest scoring average (78.5). Third-place finisher was Sam Sager of Wheaton, Illinois who shot 181 strokes for a +37 finish on the weekend.

Ernie Els 11-13

Chicago Summer Junior Open #2

Jason Gordon of Northbrook, Illinois was victorious in the Ernie Els Boys 11-13 Division as he completed the tournament at -1. He led his playing field with the lowest scoring average (71.5) and the most birdies (7). Issa Kuwahara, also of Northbrook, placed second as his 150 strokes resulted in a +6 finish. Third-place finisher was Troy Nason, of Northbrook, who made 159 strokes through the thirty-six holes for a +15 finish.

Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18

Chicago Summer Junior Open #2

In the Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18 Division, it was Kimberly Stafford of Lake Forest who walked away the champion with a two-day total of +3. She led her playing field with the lowest scoring average (73.5) and the most birdies (8). Ella Greenberg of Rockford, Illinois finished second as her 154 strokes resulted in a +10 ending through the thirty-six holes. Third-place finisher was Lexi Schulman of Vernon Hills, Illinois who made 157 strokes for a +13 finish on the weekend.

Justin Rose Girls U13

Chicago Summer Junior Open #2

Evie Greenberg of Rockford, Illinois secured the first-place trophy in the Justin Rose Girls U13 Division after her +20 total through the two days. She led her playing field with the lowest Par 3 average (3.4) and the lowest scoring average (82). Second-place finisher was Delaney Wade of Granger who made 169 strokes for a +25 finish. Both Greenberg and Wade made the most birdies in their division as they each had 3. Elle Astete of Hoffman Estates, Illinois finished the thirty-six holes at +50 to claim the third-place spot.

Boys 10 Under

Chicago Summer Junior Open #2

Joseph Scott of Lemont, Illinois captured the first-place title in the Bryson DeChambeau Boys U10 Division with his +29 total through the two-rounds. He led his playing field with the lowest Par 3 average (3.6) and the lowest scoring average (86.5). Second-place finisher, Liam Lodding of Huntley, Illinois, made 187 strokes for a +43 finish on the weekend.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
