Chicago Summer Junior Open #1

On Saturday June 23 – Sunday Jun 24, 2018 The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Chicago Summer Junior Open #1 at Randall Oaks Golf Club in Dundee, IL. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole, two-day format and the field was made from five divisions that included the Tiger Woods Division Boys 16-18, Will Smith Division Boys 14-15, Ernie Els Division Boys 11-13, Justin Timberlake Division Girls 14-18, and the Boys U10 Division.

Chicago Summer Junior Open #1

It was a narrow 2 stroke difference between the top 3, but John Stillman of Oak Lawn, IL captured the title in the Tiger Woods Boys 16-18 division after a two day total of 151. He led in birdies (4) and shot an impressive 75 on day 2 (+4). Ian Roach of Hennepin, IL finished with 152 on the weekend, but fell just short after a +5 finish in the final round. 1 stroke behind Hennepin was Michael Smith of Valparaiso, IN, despite his lead after day 1. Smith shot 74, 79 for an overall score of 153.

Will Smith Boys 14-15

Chicago Summer Junior Open #1

In the Will Smith Boys 14-15 division, Brody McCarthy of Homer Glen, IL took home the title by 3 strokes. McCarthy shot a total of 168 after shooting 81, 87. Second place finisher Manav Kakar from Faridabad, Ha shot an 85, 86 for a 171 total. Coming in third was Ethan Boehm of Winnetka, IL, who shot 180 over both days.

Chicago Summer Junior Open #1

Issa Kuwahara of Northbrook, IL won the weekend for the Ernie Els Boys 11-13 division with a combined total of 157. An impressive 76 stroke finish on day 2 and 2 birdies would seal the deal for Kuwahara. Second place finisher Kevin Wesolowski from Hickory Hills, IL was six strokes behind at 163. Henry Reiland of Chicago, IL came in at 167 on the weekend after shooting a consistent 83 & 84. Reiland also had 2 birdies.

Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18

Chicago Summer Junior Open #1

Kimberly Stafford of Lake Forest was the champion of the Justin Timberlake Division. After an impressive 72-stroke round on day 1 (+1), Stafford finished at 148 overall with 4 birdies, and 17 strokes below her competitors. Coming in second was Roz Leitner of West Dundee, IL at 165, and Savannah Weyrauch narrowly finished third (166).

Boys 10 Under

Chicago Summer Junior Open #1

Joseph Scott of Lemont, IL took the title of the Boys U10 Division. He shot a 165 on the weekend (85, 80) and clinched his first 1st place finish on the 2018 season. Coming in a close second was Nolan Adamczyk of Gilberts, IL. He was two strokes behind Scott at 167 overall. Liam Lodding of Huntley, IL clinched third place. Despite a 91 stroke round (+14) on day 2, he finished at 176 on the weekend.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
