From Saturday, May 11 – Sunday, May 12, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Chicago Spring Jr. Open at Bridges of Poplar Creek Country Club in Hoffman Estates, IL. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole, two-day format and the field was made from all six divisions that included the Tiger Woods Division Boys 16-18, Will Smith Division Boys 14-15, Ernie Els Division Boys 11-13, Bryson DeChambeau Boys 10 and Under, Justin Timberlake Division Girls 14-18, and the Justin Rose Division Girls 13 and Under.

Chicago Spring Junior Open

Johnson Hunter of Ankeny, IA held the first-round lead after firing a stellar round of 77 on day 1. He followed it up with a 79 on day 2 to take home medalist honors. Jake Schabes shot a two-day total of 160 to take home 2nd place and rounding out the top 3 was a tie between TJ Ptak and Ryan Wolfe, who shot two-day totals of 163.

Will Smith Boys 14-15

Chicago Spring Junior Open

Brock Dickson of Barrington, IL shot rounds of 85-79 to take home low medalist honors in the Will Smith | Boys 14-15 Division. Right behind him was Nick Matheney who shot a two-day total of 179 to take home 2nd place. Zach Bergman rounded out the top 3 with a two-day total of 192.

Ernie Els 11-13

Chicago Spring Junior Open

Edward Scott of Lemont, IL took him the trophy in the Ernie Els | Boys 11-13 Division by shooting rounds of 79-82over the weekend. Right on his heels was Charlie Pettrone shooting a combined score of 165 for both days. Coming in 3rd place was Joseph Scott shooting a two-day total of 188.

Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18

Chelsea She of Buffalo, IL took low medalist honors this weekend in the Justin Timberlake | Girls 14-18 Division firing rounds of 85-93 for a two-day total of 178. Coming in 2nd place was Maggie King shooting a two-day total of 183. Rounding out the top 3 was Madeline Blum who shot a combined score of 190 for two days.

Ava Bunker came away victorious after shooting a combined score of 182 in the Justin Rose | Girls U13 Division this weekend. Right behind her was Amelia Tan who shot a combined score of 201 for the tournament.

In a close battle all weekend, Nathan Haisch came away victorious in the Bryson DeChambeau | Boys U10 Division by shooting a combined score of 202 for both days. Right behind him was Aidan Antony shooting a tournament total of 203 and taking home 3rd place was Jack Bell shooting a tournament score of 207.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
