On Saturday, November 11 and Sunday, November 12, 2017, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour hosted the Chattanooga Junior Challenge at The Bear Trace (Harrison Bay). With fall now setting in, the leaves blanketing the course, our golfers found a way to blow them away with an amazing weekend of golf!
Our Champion this weekend for the boy’s 16-18 division claimed his title with a playoff. Cade Puryear and Manny Rogers finished the final round all squared a +1 overall. Both proceeded back to hole one where Cade preserved through a tough fight victorious. All players had a great time competing against some of the best junior golfers in the country.
If you were in attendance this weekend you may have not been surprised by this back and forth battle between Joe Carter and Patton Samuels. Like twins these two shot identical scores on round 1 (76) and in round 2 (71) to go to a playoff. In the playoff Joe Carter edged out the Victory. This division had great competition and each player can walk away proud of their effort. Third place went to Benjamin Burns who shot 76 in the first round, 74 in the second for an overall score of 150 for the weekend.
The boys had a fun time navigating through the course and showed maturity beyond their years in overcoming its many challenges. Our first place finisher for this weekend is Skyler Winningham who shot an overall 180 for the two days. Following Skyler, in second place was Sam Levine with an overall score of 188 for the two days.
From Prospect KY, our Girls 14-18 Champion was none other than Taylor Edlin who stole the show in Round One with a Hole in One on hole 4. Edlin added in four more birdies that round to finish 3 under. From then on many tried to catch her and some got close but when round 2 was finished, Taylor Edlin remained on top. Tori Owens came in second with a two day overall score of 148. Following Tori, Speedy Kent finished third with an overall score of 157 for the weekend.
Twelve-year-old Ella Manley from Calhoun, GA was our Champion for the girls 13U division this weekend. Ella battled a tough and resilient Jack Nickalus designed couse and impressed many with her attitude and effort over the weekend. Ella ended the weekend with an overall of 181 (90/91).
