From Saturday, March 16 – Sunday, March 17, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Chateau Elan Junior Open at the Chateau Elan Golf Club in Braselton, GA. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole, two-day format and the field was made from six divisions that included the Tiger Woods Division Boys 16-18, Will Smith Division Boys 14-15, Ernie Els Division Boys 11-13, Bryson DeChambeau Division Boys Under 10, Justin Timberlake Division Girls 14-18, and the Justin Rose Division Girls 13 and Under.

Leading off the Tiger Woods Division this past weekend was Nathan Kraynyk of Dhahran, Saudi Arabia with 151 strokes. Michael Hauer of Naples, FL earned second place, with 154 strokes. Rounding out the podium was a two-way tie for third. Jonathan Xoinis of Chattanooga, TN and Mason Dean of Duluth, GA finished just one stroke behind Hauer.

Will Smith Boys 14-15

Billy Abdow of Duluth, GA captured the first-place finish in the Will Smith Division with a 2-day total of 150 strokes. With solid play both days, Abdow was able to hold off second place finisher, Zachary Ong of Scarsdale, NY, by only one stroke. Just one stroke shy of second was Ken Shibata of Faribault, MN.

Ernie Els 11-13

In the Ernie Els Division, Tip Price of Greenville, SC took the first-place trophy with a two-day total of 149.  With solid play in both rounds, Price was able to hold off Anthony Purcea of Buford, GA and Rohan Gopaldas of Suwanee, GA, who finished with 151 and 155 strokes respectively.

Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18

Susana Olivares of Guadalajara, Mexico won first place in the Justin Timberlake Division with a two-day total of 142 strokes. Romina Villanueva of Mexico City, Mexico earned the silver trophy with 148 strokes. Rounding out the division was a three-way tie for third. Iris Cao of Duluth, GA, Michelle Cao of Duluth, GA and Morgan Jones of Auburn, AL finished with 151 strokes each.

Justin Rose Girls U13

Kate Ha of Auburn, AL was the champion of the Justin Rose Division, as she finished with 162 strokes. It was a tight race for second, but Zoe Duval of Cumming, GA earned the silver trophy with 167 strokes. Right behind her was Camryn Coffield of Hamilton, GA, finishing with 168 strokes.

Boys 10 Under

In the Bryson DeChambeau Division, Cooper Smith of Jasper, GA took home the title by shooting a 36-hole total of 16. He maintained a 4-stroke victory over Xeve Perez of Evans, GA, who took home the silver trophy.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
